I was using my reciver with my HFI-780 in analog but I prolly just gonna stick a headphone amp in the chain instead as I put my headphone back into my sound card directy. Instead of the sony recivier.

As the recivier messed up the SQ in analog while using the phones port in front.

Man you guys sure have some beastly systems, makes my lowly one pale in comparison -

    My Setup:
    • ASUS Xonar Essence STX, with Uni Xonar drivers, using XMPlay with ASIO output @ Bit Depth and Sample Frequency of Source Material on Windows 7 Professional, upsampling when EQ being used
    • AKG K518 DJ Headphones
    • Concord Premium Interconnect (1.0m Stereo Parallel Male to Male RCA Interconnect from sound card to amplifier)
    • 12 Gauge speaker wire from speakers 'b' outputs of amp to high level inputs of subwoofer
    • Cambridge Audio Azur 740A Integrated Stereo Amplifier (150W RMS/ch @ 4 Ohms, 100W RMS/ch @ 8 Ohms, all channels driven)
    • Technics SL-1700 Turntable
    • (To Yet Acquire) Cambridge Audio Azur 640P Phono Preamp
    • PSB SubSonic 5i Subwoofer (150W RMS Continuous, 225W Dynamic, 450W Dynamic Peak, 10" Driver)
    • Custom speakers (Australian floor standing Linear Design K-2500's, 2x 12" stock woofers in each, each tower 'painted' with bituminous rubber paint on all internal enclosure walls, stuffed with Acrylic fiber, replacement 4" mid-range drivers (HIVI M5N's with Magnesium-alloy diaphragms and Kapton voice coil former frames http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/products.aspx?cid=9&sid=57&pid=193), replacement tweeters (Vifa Dual Concentric Super-Tweeters - http://www.tymphany.com/files/XT25TG30-04 Rev1_0.pdf) and replacement 3-way crossovers (600hz and 3.5KHz X-Over points @ 12dB/octave), drivers sealed with closed cell polyurethane foam gaskets).
    • Speaker isolation via speaker risers.
    • Amplifier and subwoofer connected to a Clipsal "Orange Box" portable RCD power outlet.

I've also somewhat tuned the in-room frequency response a little with a dB meter and the EQ's on my sound card if that is of any importance.

I'm sticking with this and staying the hell away from head-fi before I buy more:

    • Foobar with ASIO (Seems to be working fine at 1 ms)
    • ASUS Xonar Essence ST
    • 2 decent, seperate (using stereo out not headphone) R & L cables (gold plated)
    • Musical Fidelity X-Can v3 (Headphone AMP)
    • Sennheiser HD650

A good sound setup is the worst thing you can buy tbh (unless you've got to much money to burn). You get used to the sheer clarity, the good deep bass, everything basically. After that you simple CAN'T settle for less.

If my HD650 ever breaks down, I just know I will instantly get a new one or a Beyerdynamic/AKG/... equivelant and at the same time I'll cry when handing over €300-€500.

My Setup changed again, I been using a Asus Xonar Essence STX with a AKG 702 with headphone amp on High Gain. With 2x OPA2107 Op-amps in my I/V. I enjoying this setup alot after burning my headphones in.

Wow awesome speakers guys I have a cheap set of creative somethings I use sometimes but usually I use my Sennheiser HD 800's plugged directly into my HT Omega!

Here is a link if anyone is interested I have found these to be the best headphones I've tried so far! doubt I'd replace them unless they break!

Just finished some stuff, thought I'd post my headphone setup :)

    I'm using...

    X-Fi Elite --> Coax --> AMB Gamma 2 --> Millett Hybrid --> Alessandro MS1

A friend brought his AKG K701s round yesterday which was fun. The detail on those things is -insane-...very cool.

IIRC, that set needs an amplifier to sound their best. They are running at 300 ohm. You need and good amp...

why thank you mate, i have some hd595's also...had some Grado SR-80s as well but i preferred the senz over the grado's because i listen to chillout and ambient stuff and the senz do this much better :)

to power these i use my denon 1907 by the way :)

I have been dying to get tube based can amplifier but I think I am just going to either build an existing DIY kit or possibly just design one myself. I guess we will see where it goes...

It sounds lovely. I wasn't expecting it to sound that different to what I'd tried before, but it sounds ace to me...

I've got a couple of little opamp based designs but this is in another league.

This is a hybird so it's using the valves for voltage gain and a bipolar class-A output stage - I really love it.

robert1990 - I built it with LEDs under the valve sockets - it's pretty subtle but it looks cool I think. The tubes are low voltage ones but I'm very pleased the heaters do actually have a visible glow :)

For anyone interested, the tubes are 12FM6s at 13.5V and buffer current currently set at 50mA.
