What was your most anticipated (most excited) purchase? For both CPU & GPU?

    For me it was:

    CPU:
Core 2 Duo. Why? Becuase of the massive lead it has over the Athlon X2/FXs. Considering AMD were in the lead for ages! AND it was a big move for me becuase I had been with AMD for a while and loved them. Betrayal lol.

    GPU:
GeForce3. Why? Becuase it was the VERY FIRST pixel/vertex shading GPU (SM1.0).

    so far

    (((CPU)))
    Cely 333
    P3 733eb
    Cely T 1100
    Athlon xp1600
    Athlon xp1900 palomino
Athlon xp2100 tbred-B (special comment here that cpu was overclock to xp2400 when it was bought and i was never able to bring it back to its default speed since then, if i try it does not boot)
    P4 3.06E
Athlon64 xp3200 (ran fine at 2.4ghz as most of them did)

    (((GPU)))
    -Ati rage 8mb
    -Ati radeon 7000 32mb
-Nvidia GF4 MX440 64mb (worst card i bought on earth and never should it have been named GF4 it should have been GF2.5)
    -Nvidia GF3 TI200 64mb chaintech
-Nvidia GF3 Ti200 128 Mb ABIT Siluro (this card was pure OC goodness with 175/200(400) default it OC to 240/250(500) all this with stock cooling)
-Ati Radeon 9800pro AIW 128mb (this card was good but it was by far the worst OC card i ever had wasnt able to get 5mhz out of it without experiencing some sort of instability)
Nvidia GT6600 128mb XFX (first PCIe card i got, was really good at default but lacked the speed boost i was expecting from the 9800pro but gfx wise there was definitly a bit of bling bling more ... now ounce OC it was another story mostly that i had it equiped with a zalman AL/CU hsf)
Nvidia GT6800 256mb Gainward (great card overall nice OC but not king of the hill fortunatly got it only for 3month my house was broke into lost most of the computer equipment i had and whe where supposed to renew our insurance policy two month before that so no insurance)

so thats where i am now. i plan on building another machine during the summer of 2007 but i dont know yet what ill put in it as it all depends on whats on the market at that time and the price of it
