Is it worth it? I currently have my GTS oc'd to match a 9800GTX stock. I also plan on ocing the 260 if I get it. Thoughts?
I went from the evga 8800GTS 512mb in SLI to two GTX260's in SLI and as far as games go yes its worth it.I can max out every game i play and i mean max out.Im only running 1600x1200 res but i couldnt max out all my games with the 8800GTS 512mb.Even with just one card i could run my games at the same setting i used with my8800GTS's
Yes it's worth it however, like i have tried to tell everyone, i would wait on the 55nm versions of these cards
I was pondering the same question myself, but I realized that I can play all the games I have at satisfactory settings and that a 260 would not make a whole lot of difference for me. Only Crysis maybe, but thats a game I dont care about. If I do go for a 260, it will only be for the excitement of getting a new card rather than the actual need for it. But I'm an impulse buyer, so may end up with one, lol. I'll try to hang on a bit longer for the 55nm variation.
One of the exact reasons im buying this card, impulse/joy of getting a new card rofl. Bad thing is im getting it anyways...well I wasnt gonna get it if I couldnt sale my 8800GTS (not going to have a perfectly good card laying around), looks like someone is already interested in it so chances are im ending up with the 260, I figure Farcry 2 will make good use out of those extra shaders and memory anyways.
Nvision 08 maybe. Don't expect to much from it, except for lower price, slightly improved performance and better OC capabilities.
Die shrink doesnt always mean alot more performance.Like with the 9800GTX and the 9800GTX+. The 9800GTX+ is only slightly faster than the regular 9800GTX and it acutally runs hotter from what ive seen .So i expect the same results with the GTX260/280's.Which imho isnt enough to make me wait til the die shrink cards come out
