Good points. Depending on how 3DMark recognizes memory amounts those could be explained, but the fact of the matter is they would have scratched Vega ages ago if it was only as fast as Fiji clock-to-clock, so something else must be going on

They have been unusually quiet, especially for a launch expected in weeks. I'm pretty sure they don't plan on a paper launch ...

Remember back in March the following leak was posted--

www dot tweaktown dot com/news/56645/amd-radeon-rx-vega-beats-gtx-1080-leaked-tests/index dot html

    ^^
Had to post with this syntax because forum does not let me post links yet. :3eyes:

The hardware ID of the card above is 687F:C3. The hardware ID of the leak referenced by the OP here is C1. Logically, it follows that C1 is the low card of the new series while C3 is the highest card.

    So, C3 battles 1080Ti/Volta, C2 battles 1080, C1 battles 1070.

At least, lets hope so. I find it really hard to believe it would take AMD 2 years of development time and water cooling just to match 1070 performance. They would be better off just sticking with Polaris and push back Vega again if that were the case.

could be a $400 card that fits in-between the 1070 and 1080 and maybe a 550 card that falls short of the 1080ti
    what else is new?

I agree 100%. Just ordered a 1700 (I will OC for 1st time, as I plan to upgrade to a Ryzen Black or Ryzen 2 in less than a year) even though the ITX mobo I want isn't available yet. It smashes the 5820k I'll be upgrading.

I'll buy a Vega if it's 1080 or higher or slightly less if the price is reasonable. But if they can't beat a 1070 with their top 2 Vegas, I will go with a 1080 or 1080ti.

I seem to recall a Vega ES was running Doom 4k ultra at a solid 60+fps at CES.

Which would put some engineering sample on at least a level playing field with a 1080.

While I'm not convinced that the top Vega card will match the 1080Ti or the Titan, if it splits the difference between them and the 1080 for a reasonable price I'm all for it.

True about the cooling, the interiors of those servers look more like tornadoes. Still that's a bit different than a card with fans attached 0.1 cm above its cooler. The measurements also make sense. I also hope that this time they are hiding the clocks, instead of just giving them away like this.

If "that" ends up being ~10% slower than the Ti, but at 1070/1080 pricing, I'm getting it.

There are no "real" 4k60 cards yet. Although most people understand a different thing with 4k60. What I mean by it is a "console" 60 fps, with stable frametimes and the framerate never dropping under 60 on ultra. Even the best of the best cards we have now, are really 1440p60, under that definition.

This is the smaller one for sure, even my 980ti 1418mhz gets 6130 points.

    Smaller rival 1070/1080 if OC'ed
Bigger 1080ti or TitanXP if OC'ed.

Was the same with normal Fury vs 970/980, ok not so much by OC part

guys it's time for me to unveil the truth

    it's faster than 1070 in 1080p
    it's faster than 1080 in 1440p
    it's faster than 1080ti/titanxp in 4K
it will be faster than late 2017's volta gpu in 8k

that's what VEGA star is all about...ahahahahahahahah :3eyes:

Maybe AMD cannot surpass by a great margin their old gpus. Doomsday incoming.

Still 480/580 are trading blows with old 390(X)/980/1060. Perhaps Vega was just meant to trade blows with Fury(X) and 980ti/1070. That's the worst case scenario. Be prepared.

I think this is pretty much accurate score or near by because Vega has been push so back reason for this is performance..If this is indeed the performance of Vega then they should cancel the vega

This is exactly what 'nice' would refer to, if you price right.

Engineering sample on lowered clocks doing quick diagnostic run, makes most sense

480/580 is trading blows with 390(x) with significantly lower specs, aside from the clocks. That's a decent achievement. Vega, however, shouldn't have lesser specs than Fury X, so it would be a disaster if it wasn't much faster.

How low do you assume they could get the price, huh? It's not a tiny chip and HBM2 won't exactly save them money. If this is a smaller Vega, sure, the price ought to be reasonable enough.

Why does the driver end in 384.20? That seems like an nVIDIA driver numbering to me.

And isn't Generic VGA when there's no drivers installed besides well, the generic ones in the OS?

He's confused i guess, the Duo Pro does have 11T:

    11T Pro Duo: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/201...m-on-its-latest-radeon-pro-duo-graphics-card/

But 25T is the Instinct range: http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/amd-vega-specs-performance-release-date-technology-explained

I don´t understand why some guys are drawing conclusions and freaking about this score if we still don´t know exactly what card it is?

If it´s the lower Vega, then it´s a nice result and it´s going to compete directly against the 1070 at a lower price, perfectly normal.

Unless people are expecting AMD to release a card so powerfull it simply obliterates everything Nvidia has to offer right now...
