Manually set your memory timings to the defaults. Overclock you CPU to at least 3.0GHz. Try 400FSB with unlinked memory running at 1066MHz (don't forget to manually set memory timings/voltage). You should be able to take your card to 650/2000 at least and then score over 10,000
on 3DMark06'. If you want to get around 750 on your GPU, you have to flash your video bios and lower the default shader speed by 200MHz or so.

Dude. He's got a problem in his PC and you advise him to overclock. Never, ever, use overclocking as a solution to these kind of problems.

TC are you sure you are doing the default 3d mark 06 as I assume you have the fully paid up version of 3d marks as it comes free with the Striker. Check that the run was done at 1280x1024 and all default settings also make sure the driver is "app controlled". Thats the very first thing I want you to cjeck.

What resolution is the 3dmark running at?

This may sound silly, but it happened to me. In nVidia options, I once had 8xAA and 16xAF enabled for the global profile, thus it made most games lag a bit. Just something to check.

hey guys, just came back. i will try everything out and i will let you know.

the resolution i run was 1680x1050 so that might have also affected the performance.

and yes.. i have plugged in the power on my gcard :p

and i have already set the ddr2 timings manually and running my memory at 2.4V

but from what i can see now the AA and AF are app preffed...

i will go through everything again.

its funny but most games run smoothly with all settings on full and 1680x1050 res...

yes, the 3dmark came with the striker mb but it is an old version and i cant seem to update it...

That will definitely effect the score. I think most people run at either 1024x768 or 1280x1024 for testing.

You have to run 3DMark 06 on default res- 1280x1024 (1.307.000 pixels)
If run on wide screen res - 1.760.000 pixels all scores drops.

Be sure that in Nvidia CPanel select performance settings - not quality.

The scores you see for 3d mark 06 evertwhere are 1280x1024 score. Redo the test with that resolution and be sure not to enable any aa or af. Also goto futuremark.com and download the latest 3d mark 06 it's v1.1 I think. Screw the one that came with your stryker, as the version you have is buggy mess. You can reuse the key you hvae for the latest version. Infact Guru3d has the latest 3dmark 06 avialable for download on it's website. Do that now. Also do you test again before upgrading to pro to make sure you are doing a default run.

Yes! Downloaded the new £DMArk and i got 8393 MArks! Damn buggy software... I wondered why all games would play perfectly with full settings. Here are my results:

    http://service.futuremark.com/orb/resultanalyzer.jsp?projectType=14&projectId=978114

let me know if you find anything unusual :p

    Thansk everybody for your contribution!

EDIY: I just noticed... why is my gpu clock running at:
    VGA Memory Clock 297.0 MHz
    VGA Core Clock 108.0 MHz

Isnt it supposed to run at:
    - 640MB GDDR3 Memory running at 1600MHz
    - GeForce 8800 GTS core running at 500MHz ???? as per spec.

Yep that score is right for your stock clocked cpu and gpu. 3D mark 06 was screwed up in it's first incarnation. I am surprised that Asus is not giving out the latest version. I take it the key they gave you works with the new 3d mark 06?

By the way those low clocks you saw for your GTS is quite normal. Have a look at the orb(3d mark compare section) and the profiles of others who have a 8800 card. They all are shown like this. It has something to do with multipliers I think.

But im still not very satisfied with the result... if you see the post right above mine called "8800 GTS problems" (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=210757) his system is lower spec and he still gets 12000+ marks... :( what have i done wrong to loose 4000+ damn marks..

I got 7768, so your 8393, does seem a bit lower then it should (by estimate), becuase the E6600 >>>>>> 4600+ and you have 1066MHz ram vs my 400Mhz.... its a bit lower than i would think, but its not too far off.

FYI ebpain, in your specs, you have the 8800gts with 540Mb, its 640 lol

I am trying to figure out how he got 12K as well I am only getting 8754 and I have my system oc'd to 2.7GHz and the memory is running at DDR 600. My video is oc'd to 625/1800.

    UPDATE:
I stopped my virus scanner and I was able to get to 9165. My cpu score is holding me back now. It was only 1915. I haven't finished my oc'ing though. I just got an AM2 bolt-thru kit for he ultra 120 and ultra 90 heatsinks. I found that it will fit the si-128 as well but you have to be careful about putting in the screws. I am going to bolt that on tomorrow and see what kind of oc I end up with.
