Polaris could undercut Pascal if it launches 18 May and have same or better performance.

It's not going to launch on the 18th. Also, it'll be a mid range card, won't compete with early Pascal.

I agree it's not going to launch on the 18th. Undercutting could mean a lot of things. If a $250 card sits between the Nano and the 980Ti for example, it automatically undercuts a lot of stuff. I actually hope they "undercut" as much as possible. NVIDIA raised the entry price for the x80 series $100 and nobody said a peep. If a card with 1/3 of the prices gets 70% of the performance of the 1080, then whoever was going to get the 1080 is the first to benefit. Here's to hoping.

I hope AMD isn't going to bottle it!

I think strong Pascal gonna attract more customers, unless AMD does 970 like even with less money.

I totally agree. AMD needs a card that does what the 970 can do for a cheaper price. I think it would take a miracle for AMD to accomplish this.

Yeah I feel that May 18th is way too early of a date to get a high end card that could compete with the 1080 and 1070 but a mid ranged card is not out of the question. But It could be possible that May 18th is the paper launch for Polaris.

Yeah, it could be a soft launch on the 18th. People will still buy Pascal in bulk if Polaris is not available for another month or 2. AMD will have to release something to counter Pascal, otherwise they're late to the party seeing as most will just pick up a Pascal.

Hmm, the mobile market. This is definitely something AMD need to address. If we look at german site ceg and the available options for mxm3.0 upgrade...

As you can see, AMD has no presence here in the mobile arena right now and because of that prices are extortionate for Nvidia cards. On the otherhand, the performance of GTX980m is really great for a laptop, but, I'm on my way back to desktop. I've picked-out all my parts, the only question is the gfx to complete my build...

I mean that if you ran Pascal at the same clocks as Maxwell 2, you'd get similar performace. If you run a Geforce 256 at 1.2 ghz, you are not going to get Maxwell 2 performance.

A 9 pages thread about a failed Polaris validation that couldn't have failed considering all the Polaris news of late.

You'll have to understand that this thread dates back a month, way before all this new info, stay up to date!
