    Im gonna dl this game on steam tonight.

    I felt really cheated by missing a whole gap in the Gothic gaming chapter. I eagerly purchased Gothic 3 on release but to my dismay it was just buggy to the point of non-playability. Some of the bugs were actually game breaking - in fact alot of them were. Ranging from falling through the game engine to days blurring by in seconds to broken main quests lines. After the 4th attempt of playthrough ( after a few early patches ) I just didnt feel like doing the beginning again and I think the furthest I got was to the bandits large underground camoflage base the 3rd time i played it.

    Hopefully this game comes through - I feel the need for a fantasy action RPG!!

    EDIT: Console hook, made by some unknown person but was posted and verified to work, source code is included so it's not malware or anything and I did test it myself and it works, start program then game and press F1 and then the ~ key (Above TAB and next to 1 on the keyboard that is.) :)

    EDIT: It's actually kinda like a "trainer" so some AV's will detect it as a form of trojan as it injects code into the game EXE's memory to hook itself and the key functions.

    EDIT: Note to self, expect the obvious when testing console commands. :p
    (There was a "endboss" command, teleported me to a certain place, nothing really spoilt though as the event is set for far later in the game, big room though.)

    EDIT: There's a "FirstPersonCamera" command, cool.
    (Can cycle available commands and options via TAB so this is fairly easy, mostly the same codes as in G3 though.)

    EDIT: Time and Timescale also works, for visual tweaks and graphics there's not much but you can cycle some commands like ShaderQuality, ShadowQuality and VegetationQuality between Low, medium, high and off when available plus some commands like AmbientOcclussion and Softshadows allows you to cycle between on/off states of either effect (Unless on or off is given as a direct variable to use.)

    Spawn also works if you want to wreak havok, same with classics like God or Invisible or Give (Give All would probably work as well, untested to avoid spoilers.) and teach or teach all works as well, some other commands but not as many as I thought there would be, still funny to play around with once I've gone trough the game one or two times. :p
    (I might use the time scale command a bit beforehand.)

    Tried Crysis.exe, and it worked very well!
    Avg fps in a little benchmark in the town using FRAPS:

    Risen.exe : 39,8 FPS avg.
    Crysis.exe: 59,2 FPS avg.

    Crysis.exe was more or less a guess but it's been suggested many times for titles where you can rename the EXE and where Crossfire doesn't kick in properly, as for which EXE works best it depends a bit on the game and the engine or features of the engine, deferred shading and HDR for example are a bit special and might require different names to avoid flickering or texture artifacts, especially if used alongside AA modes.

    Crysis also scales pretty well in Crossfire due to ATI optimizations.

    There's a profiler tool somewhere in the ATI driver or discussion section that does this work for you, select from a list of profiles after setting up the path to the EXE and it'll make a copy of it and rename it to the chosen profile, can also allow you to force AA a bit better and try to force Crossfire to increase performance but I don't know much about it.
    (ATI Crossfire Extension utility or what it was called.)

    Oops I did something stupid ingame. I stole from a person, but now she doesn't want to talk to me anymore. :S

    Normally that wouldn't be so much of a problem, however I need to talk to her to complete a quest. Anyway to reset her or let her forget I stole from her? Normally I would load an old save game, but all the saves I have left are after that "action". :S

    I am talking about the woman in the bandit camp "Rachel".

    Wow - after about 1 minute of playing in the beggining i start to get the most hectic microstuttering. Becomes unplayable - even though im on like 120fps on max settings @1920x1200...

    Need to sort this out somehow - could it just be the GTX295 etc???

    Is it temporary? like 4 seconds? I thought it was a bug, but I think its tremors, like the island shifting. A guy mentioned a volcano, could be that. It is a little annoying when the camera shakes

    anyone figure out how to change the night/day cycle? the first day seemed to go by a little fast for my liking

    So far I like the demo. May be just a bit bias since I love the Gothic titles. I haven't come across any major bugs but occasionally the game shakes. Not sure if it is something part of the game but it's annoying.

    Weird man... I have the following system (my profile shows my very old system):

    Core i7 920 @ 4 Ghz
    6 GB RAM
    GTX 285 2048 MB RAM
    GTX 260 (ded. physx card)

    And I am running everything high / full @ 1920x1440 AF x16
    Also changed the viewdistance from 7500.0000 to 20000.0000

    No lag at all...

    I dunno if it was a bug, but at some time i realized my sword was able to kill every orc with just 1 or 2 hits. I cleared a hostile city just by waiting outside the front gate and kill one after one, an endless stream of orcs coming at me.

    Was ridiculous, stopped playing, sold the game to a colleque at work for 30 Eur.

    Loved the desert areas though, something that Oblivion lacked.

    Just tried the demo.

    The game keeps freezing up on me ever minute or so. The screen just freezes, but sounds continue. It's not fatal though - if I do a ctrl-alt-del, I can then hit Esc to take me back to the game, and it unfreezes. Still, makes it pretty much unplayable for me.

    I tried the demo yesterday, and I liked it ^^
    I didn't have any bug or crash, and performance seemed correct (30-40fps @ 1920x1200), but I may be stupid because I can't find the benchmark...is it present in the demo?
    Anyway, the game looks good...it feels like a mix between gothic 3 and gothic 2 (more like "gothic 3 done well"^^).
    I still have difficulties with the combat (especially pary, wich I don't understand yet), but all the small details included in the world make it really living, and so far it seems to be a nice game.

    EDIT: oh, and I didn't mention another improvement since gothic 3 : the loading times ^^ no more waiting for several minutes to load the main menu/reload a save game !

    The same thing happened to me in FarCry 2, with the same Task Manager fix. It turned out to be drivers, though I don't recall exactly which ones were causing the problem, possibly one of the the 186's?

    On a side note, it's a shame none of the G3 commands seem to be working, as the visuals could be scaled quite easily using all of the available LOD's. Hopefully Risen has them available somewhere.

    can anyone tell me wtf and if it can be fixed, then i try install risen demo i get this :

    nevermind.If anyone has this problem, just download different risen demo.
    The error comes with .exe but i dloaded .zip and it all went fine.

    Too bad the game kills sound so i hear nothing.I bet they want me to buy newest soundblaster but im very satisfied with my old soundblaster.lol

    Still i played for few mins, and i tried to went deeper into water to see if i find anything valuable after that big rock in the water but i got ambushed by some sea monster lol :D
    the gui seems cool.And graphics run fine 20fps.Still with no sound i cant play it :bang:

    Sound problems can come from the numerous codecs that people foolishly use these days.

    And the gameplay isn't AAA-class compared to other AAA-titles; It's difficult and challenging... Not as easy and dumbed down as a AAA title should be!
