Hi...Complete newbie to this forum. But I have yet to see the Gainward brand posted which I have. The reg results are 256-bit AGP NV40(A1) with 128MB DDR memory Reg 00001540: 0001370d. I'd like to participate in the beta if you don't already have 1000's of requests that have this board. Thanks for you noble contribution to us die-hards. :D

For others who are wondering what the board is capable of the max I've been able to reach in my heavily loaded (thus high temp) system is 406 core/870 mem. Ran 3DMark in a loop with Sisoft Sandra Burn-in running at 100%CPU capacity overnight with completely stable results.

yes you're right, but they have different timings, like 2.8ns, 700mhz vs 1ghz

... gddr3 have nothing to be with 2,8 n/s mem.. it ll be or 2,2 or 2,0 , so thats uch higger than 700mhz, wich is the suposed max speed for 2,8 n/s memory.. and, also, thats not true.. i have a 5900xt, that is 2,8 n/s mem.. well, have it cloked up to 910 , usually working at 900 mhz, and the max speed is suposed to be 700

Any way, 2,8 n/s is ddr memory , gddr3 is the ones that 6800gt/ultra x800pro/xt have, and i think its 2,0 n/s, or even 2,2 ns, not sure abaut this one.. but for sure its not the crap 2,8 n/s mem the 6800 use to have...

Btw, there is not a big jump from 2,2 to 2,0, so if you are able to open the pipelines, it ll be just as a 6800gt

    6800 Ultra= 1.6ns

    6800 GT= 2.0ns

    6800= 2.8ns or 2.5ns

    6800 GE (asus) 2.0 ns 12 pipe

I must have the slower ram, hence the 700mhz mem. But for $289, this card is a good one. And I'm going to up the voltage on the core soon, which will give me more oc headroom. All of them are good cards. :)

this card has a the speeds of GT!!!!! and the same memory so if you activate 16pipes its basically a GT dont you THINK!!!

it's also priced like a GT @ $422. also, you have to wonder why they would put the 6800 core on basically a 6800GT card (with 256MB of DDR3. could it be that the card was meant to be a 6800GT, but had defective pipelines? hrmmm...

If this works, it will provide you a nice performance boost, however even if your clockspeeds, RAM size, and pipeline count match, 6800's still have 5 vertex shaders, versus 6 on the GT, so performance probably won't be square even.

My Xpert Vision GeForce 6800 gives the following with RivaTuner /rr1540:

    256-bit AGP NV40(A1) with 128MB DDR memory

    Reg 00001540 : 00011f0e

    What does that mean?

    they are some 6800nu with gddr3 mem ( 2,0 n/s ) just as the chaintek 6800 B1 , or the asus v9999GE, not just 2,8 / 2,5

exactly as some 5900xt do have 2,2 n/s mem ( same as 5900/ultra/5950) instead of the 2,8 n/s mem the 5900xt are supposed to have..

Why would anyone pay 422$ for a 6800 NU is beyond my comprehension.
ASUS is absolutely overpricing those - a regular GT would be a much better choice...

not tryin to be imipatient or anything, but is this rivatuner going to be released before september??

I have been following this thread closely for the last week or so to see if the extra four pipes could be opened for free. After all, it makes sense that a fair amount of the cards should work fine with the extra pipes opened up, since Nvidia is probably making a large percentage of chips that are of "GT" calibre. They were probably expecting more defective chips then they actually produced, and are disabling 4 pipes on perfectly good chips to backfill production. From what I've been reading, the problem with getting the GT and Ultra cards hasn't been the chips, but getting enough of the DDR3 ram. Remember when AMD backfilled their orders on XP1700's with faster cores that were just underclocked? Same thing here.
I was waiting to see if the extra pipes could be opened on a large percentage of cards, and then I was going to order a vanilla 6800 and save some money. I got impatient and today I ordered a Leadtek GT card, and pricematched it for $545.00 Canadian. I work hard, so I figured that I deserve it.
This whole thing is just another example of how cool it is when a bunch of people put their heads together to make things better for everyone. :D

    Battle.
