that sounds really disgusting to all 6800 owners.
what about the 6600 owners enabling to 12 pipes. If they could, they'd blow away the 6800 (in the gt version) if they had the amount
of vertex shaders like the 6900nu. dont know.:(

the 6600 still only has a 128 bit mem bus, not 256 bit like the 6800's .... ;)

Grr... I'm really angry. hate such posters....

To avoid information misinterpretation. Posting tech details in Russian forums was a big mistake, cause tech details seem to be too complicated for beginners trying to interpret it. You posting is a nice example of wrong understainding and misinterpretation.

    Wrong. 00001zy0x.

Wrong again. It only means that at least one quad is curretnly disabled (either via hardwired dyads masking, or via BIOS). For such boards moadability depends on VGA BIOS contents, which can contain active dyad software mask. My Leadtek is an example of such board.

Wrong. First, boards with ..f0x and ..x0f already have 16 pipes active, even considering that one dyad is masked. Correct interpretation is "RT will not allow you to enable 4 more pipes if there are more than 2 phisycally masked dyads entirely in the chip in _both_ octades. Please read info you quote _carefully_.

    Wrong again. Thats not it.
e.g. 300 is 8 pipe config, but it has only 2 unmasked dyads. Please try to understand the source at least a bit than comment it, ok?

If anyone here wins the lottery, please send Unwinder samples of all 6800 variations from all the vendors ASAP! He deserves that! :)
You will be doing a good deed for all 3DGurus out there... ;) :D

Hmmm....Unwinder, could you please explain this in further detail (aka in layman's terms ;) ) i didn't quite get this part. mine is f0x. this means my 16 pipes are already active, but one dyad is masked? what does this mean? thanks

There won't be any tech explanations in the forum until new version release, sorry.

Tip: try to check multitexturing fillrate

6600 have only 8 physical pipes. That's why they have a lower transistor number. So you can't enable more than 8 as they're 8 ;)

    Let's do a quick comp.
    _____________________________
    chip 6600gt 6800nu
    vertex pipes 8 12
    pixel pipes 3 5
    core freq 500 325
    memory freq 1000 700
    mem interface 128bit 256bit
    ---------------------------------------------
    Vertex Fillrate 375 406
    Pixel Fillrate 4000 3900
    Mem Bandwidth 16000 22400

So, it will be pretty close of it for 100 bucks less.
Limitation will be memory size - 128MB and coupled with the 16GB Bandwidth this means that board will handle exceptionally 1024*768*4xAA(*8/16Aniso) and ok/bad (as tha game is old/new) 1280*960*4xAA(*8/16Aniso).
    Forget 1600*1200*Any AA.

Unwinder, can i ask you what the Reg Value is for *your* Leadtek 6800 ?

    Hello

I would like to help you out testing the new RT. I have the chaintech Apogee AA6800 Turbo. It has 2.2ns Memory.
You may contact me at ecsgaz@yahoo.com

    Thank you

@Tip: try to check multitexturing fillrate

Unwinder gave us a tip, perhaps we should have a look at the MT Fill-Rate Test of 3DMark2001.
    I get 3773 Points with a Leadtek GF6800NU(325/700) 0001370e
    Overclocked to 380/900 I get 4454.

I am interested in the Fill-Rate of a GT (not overclocked). Peraps a GT- User can post his results.

According to allbons theorie 0001370e will not work. But Unwinder replied he is not right. So nobody knows at this time what will work or not.

Well I think the best is to not bother Unwinder anymore with questions like will or will not pipes activation work on my 6800.
I think we should all wait for the next RT release and then we'll know if it works or not.

I think an estimate is worked out like this:
Core Clock Rate (MHz) x Pixels per clock (peak) (i.e. 12 for the NU and 16 for the U/GT) = Fill Rate (Multi-Texturing) (MTexels/s)

    e.g. theoretical maximum for standard NU is: 325 x 12 = 3900 MTexels/s

So the above results seem normal for an NU
