The res im using is 1280x720 But i think my bitrate is not where it is susposed to be at. That probably why my vids are looking choppy.

Does anyone use playclaw to record with? I was just watching some machinima videos on youtube and saw that's what they use. They have a free trial you can try and I must say the video quality is awesome with almost no lag at all. I'm thinking about getting the full version. http://playclaw.com/

Afterburner is unbeatable when it comes to recording game footage.
    I have tried them all.

I have always been using Fraps, and had good results with it (except the frame rate locking when recording), and I didn't really like afterburner (for some reason it doesn't record the sound).
I didn't know PlayClaw at all, but after having downloading the trial thanks to the link you provided (and after tweaking its options), I find it completely awesome !
...And it works fine with AviDemux (what I use for re encoding the videos before uploading them to youtube)

Thanks again for your post :)

I've been using Dxtory for quiet some time...and its by far the best recording software imo.

Heres my channel and a few mixed videos.

    EDIT:

hey NiukNiuk, since your using fraps, how do you get it to record longer than 4 mins. i bought the program a while back and it always splits the videos after 4mins. i can never figure out how to fix that, so i stopped using it.

Well I never had this bug :(
The only "limitation" I have is that fraps records videos by chunks of 4gig files on the disk, that's all.
I'm going to try Dxtory, it seems nice too, thanks for the link hditano

Stone, your Far Cry vids made me want to do a playthrough, so started Crysis again with the Natural mod. Game settings right at start but would skip to 9 mins in or so as the dark stuff is boring.

A couple of wtf momments where shots just seemed to do naff all, weird

    1080p still processing

95% of my videos were recorded using fraps and it will always split them up into 3-4 minute parts. I just use Windows live movie maker and put all the parts in there and it will merge them while encoding them to 1080p etc.
