I was wondering if any Guru's here have backed and are following the progress of Pillars of Eternity https://eternity.obsidian.net/. If so, how is that project coming along? Is it looking more like a Baldur's Gate type with not only great isometric RPG play but a good story, or is it going more the way of a hack n slash RPG like Icewind Dale II?

    :eek:ver:

I have been keeping an eye on it from afar and am very interested, but the only project I've backed in the last year is Shroud of the Avatar, which will basically be a new Ultima game. I'm just wondering if I should wait until release on Pillars, or take the dive sometime before release by pledging the $35. From afar it looks great, but I'd like to hear from someone who has been more closely following its production...

    Yup.

Seems like it's going to try and combine all the best aspects of those games, and considering the talent they've got working on the game I expect it to be fantastic. George Ziets is a prime example of this, he was the main guy behind the absolutely fantastic Mask of the Betrayer expansion for NWN2.

^ Thank you for the response. It sounds promising, but I remember posting in that thread last fall. I was hoping someone has been following its more recent progress? Perhaps they aren't very forthcoming with information like the SotA project and its mostly hush hush? Is there a beta scheduled?

Their pledging cost is a bit weird and expensive. But yeah, looks awesome.

There's an option going to be offered through GoG that's DRM free.

Me. It looks great so far, hopefully it can get close to the quality of BG games.

Looks pretty good. Not liking it as much as Divinity at first glance but there's still some way to go till release for this one i suppose

huh? it seems pretty standard and cheap.

$35 for a new game is pretty low.

This looks like its coming along great - thanks for the post!! It totally has a throw back style and looks like a new Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale. It will be a pleasure to play this one I think

I am considering backing it but may just wait until its final release. I am already alpha testing an RPG called Shroud of the Avatar and between that and being an adult, I don't think I have time to test two RPG's in development. lol

Looks spot on. Had a peak at some streams, but other than that, I'm trying to avoid spoiling it.

    It looks so good.

Baldur Gate/Icewind Dale/Planescape Torment junkie here. So looking forward to this game. Perhaps more so than even the Witcher 3. :D

can't wait to endlessly restart games because i didn't like the class :)
i really hope this is it, because divinity and wasteland 2 didn't quite hit the mark for me. i've been waiting for something like this since first dragon age.
