PIII mobo died. Have another one but it's AGPx2 instead of AGPx4. Big difference?

Ok..... today my Jetway Socket 370 mobo died. It gave me bleeps at startup and i've got the message: ROM bios checksum failed. Please insert floppy in Drive A. What the hell is that? It was my second pc, a PIII 1Ghz, 512mb SD-ram 133, MSI GeForce4Ti 4600 (AGPx4). That mobo supports AGPx4, but i have another mobo, let's say a replacement which supports only AGPx2.

Will that be a big difference for a Ti4600 when running at AGPx2?

Anyone? Will there be a huge performance difference between AGPx2 and AGPx4 with a Geforce4 Ti4600 on a PIII 1Ghz?

I don't think your ti4600 will fit in a agp 2x slot. They changed them from revision 1 to revision 2 and upped it 4x.

Also the revision 1 ran at 3v compared to the 1.5v of the newer revision 2.

It will fit, but you'll brake stuff :p I don't think you should try to do this. My P3 stopped about 2 weeks ago, and I just sold all the stuff I could sell and bought a new pc.

i was using fx 5200 in agp 2x mobo without any roblems, never had agp 4x mobo but you should notice small difference i think.

If it fits in the AGP slot, it works.

This is because the slot keying and the card spacing will only fit if the voltage is supported.

The performance difference between AGPx2 and AGPx4 is usually under 1%, so don't worry about that.

LOL... man would u guys believe that my old IBM Aptiva still works?
    It was a Pentium 200Mhz 32mb 2GB...
But last time i checked it (bout a year ago) it booted, but the hard disk was dead... it sounded like a drunken old man who's been with an expensive hooker and couldnt pay the price! ;)

Buy i still have my old HP Brio Celeron 333Mhz... and im sure it still works! :p

Man this post brought back some nice memories... :D
