what do ya think of the ghetto mod fan on one of my HD5770's Ian... I can't seem to find a good enough third party HSF the VF900CU fitted but wasn't able to keep the GPU cool enough (+10c over stock HSF) and the VF1000 doesn't quite fit stupid double decker DVI ports get the road of installation :( none of this would be necessary had HIS used descent fans instead of cheapo Chinese fans that cant be refurbished

Here's a few pics of the before and after of my motherboard replacement.

With the old board in a single loop.

New board in a duel loop.

Here's what it will look like when it's moved back into the entertainment center.

I'm uploading images, but for some reason I can't get them to show up. You'll have to use your imagination for now.

    Hopefully these links work.

    Thanks.
It's fun building, changing, and rebuilding. All I've got is my cell phone, I need to find a better camera. I've been thinking about submitting it, maybe next month after I get my replacement parts and do a few bench marks. Didn't have much of a chance between getting it put together and the two video cards dying.

470's aren't that old, so i was expecting to get the same back. MSI is one and the other is a Zotac. One of them did mention that equal or better would be the replacement. I have one GTX 570. Getting a replacement 570 would be awesome.

    build log of next build

had some fun with this build, i normally build the rig out side the case just to make sure that it work but of cores im to clever for that  mobo was
dead on arrival DOA :bang: so i had to completely disassemble my rig  after it was all cable manage and finished. then had to start the problem solving
routine to find out why it was not booting after a few hour trying lots of different components working gpus different ram, power supply taking it
out of the case re-seating the cpu cooler and so on i found it was iver the mobo or the cpu so i got them RMAed as i could not prove witch
one it was any way it waws the mobo so on with the build...

    system spec's
    2600k
    NHD14
    gigabyte z68xud4-b3
    corsair CX600
    corsair dominator 1600 9,9,9,24 ram 4 GB
    old 8600 GT 256
case un-know sever case i got given
    WD 2TB green
    win7 pro 64bit

    time for some pics

tried it out side rig this time lol
    [IMG]
    Shot at 2011-09-24

had to take the heatsink off one of the dominator ram sicks to fit it under the NHD14

this case does have a mobo tray so i fix the fans to the out side, one thing with the case is it has NO cable management holes
so you have to become inventive so i hid the fan cable to the molex and the fan signal wire to the broad under the mobo itself

next think to do was to mount it in the case i though this was going to be pian less but it wasn't the NHD 14 was to big for the mobo tray to fit backin
to the case so i had to modify the case a little it was easy as i only had to take a cm of the case off to make it all fit (showed in pic)

next was to put in the cpu power lead that was a little bit difficult had no rom to move but with a little bit of think an easy way came about

next was to mount the psu and sart the cable management

re- plumbed rig and move the 360 to the back of the case so it gets cold air and added a 56mm 120mm rad in the bottom to get temp down a bit, moved upto 1/2 tubing and compression fitting completely clean out all the block and rads on the x58 rig. temps down by 10-12c not bad

core2duo 7200@3.1Ghz. Running CentOS, manipulated from main rig.

    PPD: 3200
    Watt usage on load : 102v * 0.8A = 81.6W
PPD/Watt = 39 (pretty bad, but keeps room warmer)

That's a high tech usage of a simple cardboard box :) I spot an empty PCI-E Slot, maybe you could throw in a GPU to upgrade the heater ;)

I have GeForce8800 in my closet, however I couldn't get it to work. It fetches old projects with 0 credit. I guess the card got listed out.
