    Hey guys,

my system usually performs very well in the current games. Hellgate, Gears of War, CoD4 - maxed out (no AA) don't seem to be a problem for it at all.

In Need For Speed: Pro Street I experience a stuttering, lagging and "foamed" performance, which already starts in the menus, making the game horrible to play.

A friend of mine with exactly the same system and a 8600GT, which has proven to be slower in DirectX9 than my superclocked 7900GS (which performs better than any 7950GT I've seen til now), plays the game with smooth >50 fps and no stuttering at all, at the exactly same settings.

Also the reviews I've read, complaining about the performance, tested it on a 7XXX series card - the reviews done on a 8XXX series card didn't state such a bad performance.

May this be an engine-7XXX-series related problem?

    Best regards

No problem here running smooth as butter
at 1680/1050 4aa 4af max out. It might be related to hardware guys. Maybe the game needs more video card memory i guess.

Nope, sorry to disappoint you - the friend, who plays it at very very smooth framerates, has a 256MB card, too, but 8600GT.

hmmmm , weird , it might be a bug in the drivers or something for the 7xxx series card :(

The original poster's theory seems to be true. I also have the same stuttering on a 7600GT.

lower your shadows from high to low and you'll fix the problem.

Yeah the environment in the game looks quite plain, I've noticed that those particle effects really take a toll on my 7950GT though the game is quite okay and the cars feel better than in the previous releases. It's really just waving the framerate up and down all wobbly.

Well it's an okay game I play it sometimes to kill time.

i just think the stutter shows up more on the 7 series. Its still there with the 8 series. Only happens in grip races and its not very noticeable. But it IS there.

yes...the problem persists on 7 series card. Though, the game is running fine on all 8 series card. I tried demo...and i was getting >45fps !! :D Nice game...i say!
Graphics are nice. Though, i was expecting night racing and Cop chases!
As for the problem with 7 series card, i think a newer driver or game patch might solve th issue!!

I have the same problem on 8600gt... It seems there is no solution for this, the game is simply ****ed, and i heard nothing about a patch. GG EA.
