I don't mind the camera either. It would be pretty fine for the basic snapshots I would be taking with it. Perhaps the primary reason I'm not biting now is because it's fine waiting more time for newer phones. That and I'm going to upgrade to a Haswell Refresh platform when they hit the market.

The S5 screen is oversatured by default, you need to change the display to "Movie Mode" for the gamut to shrink back to sensible levels (sRGB).

Remember that oversatured displays sell faster, so at least I applaud them for including a display mode that makes the display normal again.

Thanks as the specs on the net say the z2 is better but if the wifi is crap the reviews should mention that.

Okay the supplied ear buds that come with the M8 are utter garbage. They have been put away I am back to using my iPhone ear buds, too bad the volume control doesn't work with android.

Grab yourself some proper earbuds and enjoy the HTC One M8's fantastic audio output. My recommendation goes out for the Yuin OK series. I have the Yuin OK2 myself and they're just fabulous.

I'm not sure yet, but I'm thinking about getting a LG L90 and a Sony Xperia Tablet Z2. The phone is supposed to replace my ancient Samsung. The tablet is supposed to access the net when I'm too lazy to use my PC.

Software / launchers etc are a non-issue for me since I'm happy to flash and customize the phone as soon as I get it. I really want a phone with a great preamp but I'm not happy to have a crap camera and non-removable battery so nah I'll stick with S4 this year.

    Should?

The question you should be asking is why haven't I rooted it already. :D

First time with an Android still learning the system as is. Is there a way to do a backup of my pictures text and contacts prior to rooting?

Nexus 6, if it comes out and if it's not low-end spec phone as some of the rumours say.
