2 Way SLI -Max Resolution?? 1080p

    Hi people,

First off i should introduce myself.

I have been introduced to this site from another forum with a question i have and can't be solved. Yet all over the interent it seems to done?

    Ok..

I have a GTX 280 and an Nvidia FX5500 card. The 280 is pci express the FX is PCI

I want to run all 3 monitors using the 2 cards. Obviously I doesnt want SLI but can I do this and how?

I am currently has the GTX 280 running 2 monitors.

not bothered about performance yet..... just using the 3rd monitor as a tool dump system.

I have downloaded Rivatune and it can see both cards but how do i use this to utilise both cards to display on all 3 screens. All screens are here and waiting lol.

I know SLI will improve performance and work straight away but right now i cant sli because my case is to small and i dont have 200 quid for another card and case lol...

I have seen all over that pci and pci-e cards together do work, that it be settings in the bios or some software like rivatuner, but no one knows how lol or explained them selves!!

There is a picture at the bottom with everything i have right now.

    Thanks for looking peeps :)

    Rergards,

    Daniel

I suppose you've tried just plugging in the third monitor into the FX5500 card and seen if you can extend desktop to it, by just right clicking the desktop and choosing "Screen resolution" in order to see if a third screen is detected?

From what I understand you want both cards to power all 3 screens?

If so then that is not going to happen. With these two cards you can power 2 screens on the GTX 280 and the third screen on the FX5500 as long as there are no strange conflicts. You should be able to run them independently. They will not, however work together in any way.

I don't know, I can't make it out in that pic; maybe you could post a bigger one? :p

3 screens should work fine with that setup

    That's odd

can you not change the resolution of each screen individually after SLI is enabled?

You want 3 independant displays, right? So why did you select the surround option?

Does it let you use the native resolution if you don't use the 'span displays with surround' option?

If so I would try a different driver, unless you aren't bothered about playing games across three screens.

According to Nvidia with GF 200 you can only connect one monitor per card so for Surround you need 3 way SLI.
