    I have one of these original Gigabyte Gaming OC 4080 models, but luckily for me, I have it in a vertical mount (Coolermaster vertical graphics card holder V3) since I got it, so there is no strain on the connector. These big heavy cards should all really be vertically mounted IMO by default.

    If you have an opportunity to exchange it for the revised version than do so, I regret not doing it for my Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC. It was the one that had the power connectors that were susceptible to bent pins.

    At the time I didn't have the issue until I got a new case. After swapping the parts over I noticed I couldn't plug one of the 8-pin PCI-E cables in. As it turns out a couple of the pins were bent when I had wiggled the cable out. In the end I had to buy a replacement part off some Chinese website that took a month to get to me.

    ...or use a GPU support bracket - they are quite cheap and it is a well worth investment - every heavy gpu should come with one in the box - mine has it it is quite a looker also...

    I am using the support bracket that came with my Gigabyte RTX4090 OC Gaming. It's the best designed support bracket that I have ever received with any Graphic Card. This bracket attaches to 2 of the screws holding the motherboard making GPU completely stabilized.
    And it looks gorgeous to.

    I simply avoid Gigabyte products when and where I can.

    I'm not in USA, this kind of thing would be either impossible and/or a complete pain in the ass to do involving expensive over sea shipping and or custom import charges and all sorts of international and shipping bullcrap. Just too stressful to bother with. I seriously doubt they would be even obliged to even think about replacing it anyway.

    On a related note speaking of crap... I got the Coolermaster V2 vertical mount included with the very expensive HAF 700 EVO case, but it was terrible with the big 4080 card... causing bending and strain as it didn't fit right... so I had to go out and pay something like 150 more for the V3 mount, which does fit them well, as it has an extra axis of expansion adjustment over the old v2 mount.

    Update your signature - says you have a "Asus GTX 580 Direct CU" :D

    Vertical mounting coincidentally solves the issues of PCB breaking, sagging, and the space needed to not bend a 12VHPWR cable too much.

    @Exostenza

    You and I talked about this. Looks like you called it. Gigabyte redesigned their PCB to help prevent future cracking.

    If he kept the card the signature is still technically correct :p

    I agree. Card with horizontal installations must have proper support via support brackets, stands, levers or all 3. These cards are too big.
