    GPU:
    ATI X1900XT 512mb, ATI 3300 FireGl
    x1900xt 512mb @7350 only partially performing

I ve tried a couple of the patch scripts with different driver versions. realview in solidworks has worked everytime. But scores in specviewperf 9 are pretty much the same as stock. Could it be that I have not cleaned up old driver properly? Can some one suggest a good utility for wiping out the old drivers?

Anybody else had issues like this?

I also have a true 3300 Firegl, with large models in solidworks and higher quality setting I get very slow performance, How significant has the differences been in performance for SW07 with the top end fireGL(7300)?,

Thank you fro any replies in advance.

I haven`t got any video card tool running . Specviewperf keeps crashing after 7 minutes running . That sucks ....i see no option other than a clean Windows XP install

    clocking the modded x1950xt

Yeah, and those Maya scores were with stock clocks on CPU and RAM. If I OC my CPU they should get better.

Just follow the copious advice here and you should be ok.

On clocks, I suspect the driver is programmed to OC for games, though you'd think it would for OpenGL too. But apparently not unless I messed it up during an experiment. Here's how to test:

    1) install your modded drivers. Mod them in VGA/60hz if you have to. (try to never, ever, install Catalyst as it's a PITA)
    2) install FireGL control panel.
    3) Don't install any ATI Tray Tools or ATI Tool.
    4) Run RivaTuner HW monitor to see voltage, and clocks, and run specViewperf. See if it clocks up to 625 or stays at 500.
    5) If it doesn't OC, install ATI Tool (Not ATI Tray Tools) to manually set OC mode and it also has a nice hotkey function though documentation sucks.

Check your openGL control panel and select "default" which I found to be fastest.

I've had bad experiences with 3rd party driver removers. Just use the control panel "remove ATI drivers" option.

Additionally you can manually uninstall from device manager, and if all else fails, backup your registry and make a repair disk, and then manually search for "display" and "catalyst" and rip any registry entries with mention of ATI. Though that's dangerous if you don't know what you're doing and make require a rollback in safe mode.

Hard to say what's causing it. ATI drivers are a bit weird, and once they're fiddled with it's hard to fix.

If you ever ran a 3rd party tool you may have set something wrong like an overclock or something. For example, I was just experimenting with voltage settings to see if I could run max clocks on lowered voltage. Nope. The 1.45v is necessary for 625/1800, and setting it to 1.2v (which is fine for 2d) caused crashes, so I reverted to 1.45v for OC.

Also, I found FireGL drivers really dislike ATI Tray Tools. ATT either kills performance or causes crashes.

After almost giving up... SUCESSS SSSS S SSSS S !

Ow man, great big giant thanks to huangyanhao, this crazy china dude who made our investments pay off ! Now my Sapphire 1950 PRO 256 Mb PCI-E is kicking ass !

I had to install WinXP around 6 times to make this work, but finally got it ! (I didn´t actually installed it, but restored an image from Norton Ghost...)

If anyone having trouble getting it to work, I suggest doing a clean OS install and installing the modded drivers before any other video drivers approuch... I first installed the mainboard chipset stuff, then directx9c, then modded drivers with the script from this thread 2nd post (R5XX from chinaman) and BUM ! V7350 ! Ha ha ha...

I´m really happy as you guys can see, I spent hours trying...

Well, any doubts I´ll try to help with what I did, luck to all and keep trying, the thing WORKS !

    Hi guys,

I succesfully modified ATI 1950 XTX to FireGL 7350 with the default script for 8.293.0.0
Somehow there is still an unknown device in device manager, some kind of display. It can´t find any drivers online or on the harddrive suitable, secondary is installed at least it says so in device manager. Is there some other component on the ATI 1950 XTX which needs to be installed where I would need a component of the catalyst driver?

thanks for the script : )

edit: nvm, I found the missing device it´s some AV stream controller which is obviously not on a FireGL lol....

Try to instal the windows wdm drivers from Catalyst driver , just choose custom and uncheck the other options except the wdm drivers . I don`t know exactly what device it is but it should solve the problem .

It's the VIVO capability. The easiest way I found to install it is to expand the Catalyst drivers (any version) and then update device driver manually from the WDM folder.

Yup, thanks... I found the WDM driver in the catalyst package.

    Hi all,

    I got a X1950XT thinking about this mod :D

I tried it yesterday but I had this results, so I think that the mod wasn't successful :(

2-At rivatuner chose 'Force FireGL 7350 capabilities' and picked '.../Driver/2KXP_INF/B_36301/ati2mtag.sy_'

    3-In '.../Driver/2KXP_INF/CX_36758.inf' edited

    "ATI FireGL V7350" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_710F
    "ATI FireGL V7350 Secondary" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_712F

    for

    "ATI FireGL V7350" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7104
    "ATI FireGL V7350 Secondary" = ati2mtag_R520GL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_7124

since my card has this ID 7244 I just replaced the FF for 44

4-At Device manager updated the drivers for both primary and secundary for ATI Firegl V7350 with CX_36758.inf

5-After the reboot I installed the control panel for 8.293

I can't find the OpenGL settings and from the benchs... well it changed nothing.

In addition for being a noob at this stuff my english isn't that good :eyes:
but any help would be a great help for me :D

I'm getting my X1950XT today just for this mod so maybe after i install it i can help more but like previously stating in this thread ATI drivers is a funny set.

I suggest you enter "safe mode" and uninstall all ATI drivers/control panel and delete the ATI folder if there is one under program files.

    Restart.

Install ATI drivers for modded card

    restart

Install ATI control panel for FireGL from the same driver set.

    restart

    Maybe it will work :)

    Hi again,

Yeop, I algo thought about doing that, repeat the process but this time uninstall all ATI stuff before. I'll have to do that :)

I would like to confirm one thing though, since I followed a tutorial from a portuguese forum, I noticed now that I used a different script and process that, for example, samian used. Could have been because of this?

    Thanks

:eek:c: lol this forum has the craziest smilies

Hmm my X1950XT came in today modded the drivers and it is the only drivers this card as seen.

    Spec view is very nice:
    Run All Summary

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 24.55

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\CATIA\SUMMARY.TXT
    catia-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 29.26

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\ENSIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    ensight-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 22.20

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    light-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 25.86

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\MAYA\SUMMARY.TXT
    maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 83.06

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
    proe-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 23.70

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\SW\SUMMARY.TXT
    sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 37.90

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\TCVIS\SUMMARY.TXT
    tcvis-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 11.41

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGNX\SUMMARY.TXT
    ugnx-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 19.77

But even though i can run spec view no problem, when i open a real CAD program, Rhino3D. My machine hard crashes after one minute after moving a complex model :(

But using solid edge it didn't crash so this makes me thing maybe Rhino3D has some setting set that this card does not like...

Well me playing around with it over the weekend and see what i can do it get it to work as it is the reason why i bought a x1950XT over a 8800GTS :micro:

*edit* also i wanted to point out my x1950xt@FireGL also does not detect that 3D model so i had to force 625/800 all the time :thumbdown The specview above is for 625/800.

So i have to issues to figure out

*edit2* It seems like the problem fixed itself, as i tried the Rhino3D v4 demo, i was using v3, and didn't get the crash i went back to v3 and it did not crash but man v4 is so much faster than v3 lol.

So it seems detecting 3D apps is still a problem, i'll try to see if it detects directx apps tomorrow. Anyone else get this problem?

Hmm about that I can't be of any help :(

Which script did you use? And did you edit the .inf file? I'm asking cause, for example, samian (here) made it like this and I used (here) a different process. Before I try the whole thing again I would like to be sure :)

I used the script on the first page for x1xxx series and 8.293 drivers of this thread.

With every ATI and Nvidia drivers uninstalled, i had 7800GT before.

    1) I reboot
    2) Cancel all driver install options pop-ups
    3) Goto Device manager, VGA Controller (VGA Compatible), is the primary card so i choose update drivers, find CXP_xxxxx.inf, pick ATI FireGL 7350, Click ok.
    4) Goto Device manager, VGA Controller , is the secondary card so i choose update drivers, find CXP_xxxxx.inf, pick ATI FireGL 7350 Secondary, Click ok.
    5) Does not ask to reboot so I installed the Control Panel then though the CPANEL folder setup.exe. It asks to reboot so i do.
    6) Once it is loaded everything seems correct.

If i get anymore problem or figure anything else out I'll update.

Now I just have to try using the autocad and see how it goes.

I can't seem to find the OpenGL settings :(

You use AutoCAD for 3d?.... :puke3: lol

Anyway if you go into the options there should be systems tab i think and you can change the graphics driver, they have a lot but you should see one that looks like opengl...

This was my experience with AutoCAD 2k1

    Hey all,

I've had some time to look at my performance in the softmodded system. Its a X1900XT using .293 and the script here.

Here are my Spec viewperf 9.0.3 scores:

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\3DSMAX\SUMMARY.TXT
    3dsmax-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 21.20

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\CATIA\SUMMARY.TXT
    catia-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 24.23

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\ENSIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    ensight-03 Weighted Geometric Mean = 16.81

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\LIGHT\SUMMARY.TXT
    light-08 Weighted Geometric Mean = 22.05

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\MAYA\SUMMARY.TXT
    maya-02 Weighted Geometric Mean = 44.14

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\PROE\SUMMARY.TXT
    proe-04 Weighted Geometric Mean = 20.33

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\SW\SUMMARY.TXT
    sw-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 29.85

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\TCVIS\SUMMARY.TXT
    tcvis-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 8.069

    ---------- SUM_RESULTS\UGNX\SUMMARY.TXT
    ugnx-01 Weighted Geometric Mean = 11.16

I'm a little concerned about the low SW score. Thats what i use mainly and I see other people here are getting mid-40s.

Anyone have any idea why mine are low or what I can change as far as settings go ?

    Thanks
