I've been using Windows 10 without a password since 2016 and NEVER did it prompt me to change my password because it expired. Is this something new they added?
Not using a password is a good security measure on Windows to prevent network logins, because you cannot login to a Windows-based remote machine without a password (it will throw an error). I run W10 22H1 on one of my rigs and I haven't been asked to "change it" ... yet? Except the 22H2 upgrade my rig is up2date. My main rig has a passeord set (AD membership), so I don't know about 22H2. Are you on release or insider channel?
Nope, just regular latest version. Anyways, i was forced to make a password to access my PC and removed it again by changing to password to blank after logging in. Silly nonsense... so much for Personal Computer these days, right?
I had something similar happen on my dad surface, i turned that all off and cause my dad didnt want it on. I kept turn it off and kept turning back. at some point i gave up and told to deal with. same with the "ms" account" i keep turn it off and removing the account from system but seem to wind up back there. and not him doing cause he does even know what he ms account is, I use it once for him and removed after doing what i need but keep coming back despise acutal deleting it from the system. I dont look forward of next build windows that feature "AI" Skynet is coming I do remeber few year about around the time Firefox introduced "master password" it started asking me for password just to get in to my password list, and and would not let me in to less i made one. I think that was bug though cause it was fixed in later versions
This Windows install is very clean as well, like a month and a half old maybe. Installed with Rufus with the local account option.
when it asks to change password just leave the box blank and hit enter, same as before rufus could set user account
That didn't work, i was forced to make a password to enter the OS, then go into account settings and change it to blank again.
Had another confirmation from reddit that it's caused by Rufus, which does not check the option to never expire the password.
