Rather have that than a regular 285, even though the upgrade might be small I always find a way to need it ;)

Makes sense, cheap DDR3 paired with some cheapening high end GPU's and you make a tidy sum on the side and since with a looming economic problem it's not too bad.

I guess mugs have high resolution monitors.

Aye, but then you have the wall of deminishing returns with the amount of RAM a 512bit bus on GDDR3 can address, which effectively makes it pretty much pointless for gaming.

well with a memory bus of 512-bit there shouldn't be any problem in taking advantage of the 2GB memory at very high resolution that is.

Games like GTAIV will love the additional memory.

there are alot of games right now that need more than 1gb video ram

thats why GTA4 crysis fallout3 and clear sky cant have huge res and high AA /AF and run smooth, there running out of ram.

I play fallout 3 with all the IQ and texture mods but I get these stutters all the time its cause my 896MB of ram isn't enough, my card can render fast enough, it just needs more ram which makes this 2gb an interesting card.

    Lookin forward to a guru3d review =)

    Not really.

You're still limited by the bus. It's similar to having a card with 1GB of RAM with a 256-bit bus. It can only address 512MB at low latency. The same applies with this card.

It will address 1GB as efficiently as the GTX 285 vanilla but is still limited in the same way as the older cards with 256/1GB combo's.

The bus width is doubled, but so is a RAM amount which creates exactly the same bus bottleneck.

It should provide a better gaming experience, but anyone expecting to power through using 2GB of framebuffer will run into the bus bottleneck and still be left with a framerate fall off.
