Can somebody please confirm that if the Palit GTX 470 Sonic Platinum is faster than the 5870 (Reference)? I need to know, cause I have the opportunity to get one. Don't trust reviews all that much and cant really find one...

The best answer I can I give is “Yes” and “No” based on the question you asked. You need to provide more information, such as the game(s), resolution you use, settings, etc.

Either card will outperform the other based on the “provide more information” line above.

My advice, from a performance point of view; if it’s going to cost a great sum of money..don’t bother.

I fail to see relevance to the OP’s question in that massive screen shot.

The 470 I am speaking about is a OC version. Not the normal 470. 1680 x 1050 mainly. Overall performance, that's all.

OC’d or not the 470 is still going to trade blows with the 5870, again, depending on the game. Is there any particular game(s) you’re looking to increase the performance in? If not, than as TheHunter pointed out – “470gtx its more of a side upgrade, not worth it imo..”

I'd spend the money on a new mobo/cpu 1st instead of a new gfx card

Almost 1.5V for a 24/7 clock? That chip sure isn't going to last long.
