Ok guys first of all I apologize if there are hundreds of other threads like this all over the net.

    So anyway here it goes.

I recently had bad luck with an E8200/p35 cpu/mobo build that turned out to be both lemons and was offered by the shop 2 choices as a replacement.

    These are:

    A.

    Intel Core2duo E8200
P45 Ultra (With CF at 2x8)

    B.
    AMD Phenom X4 9550
790GX (With 3way CF not sure at what speed)

My questions are... which combo would give me better performance in terms of playing farely recent games such Fallout 3, Crysis 1 and 2, NBA 2k9, COD4 and COD5... I have already run these games with very decent eye candy using my e8200/p35 setup that burned but I'm wondering if I would see any improvements over the E8200 if I go with the Phenom 9550 this time??

I also do a bit of audio and video editing..

Oh and btw.. This combo will have

    2 x 500gb Sata drive (I'm sure I can do raid0 with the P45 mobo),
2 x HD4850 (I was a bit disappointed with the P35.. I'm sure CF will be better with any of these mobos)

    4 x 2gb Corsair Dominator

Gaming and Audio/Video Editing is the main purpose of this rig but mostly gaming. Would I be able to use Phenom II with a 790gx board?

    Thanks in advance.

A as i'm pretty sure you'll be able to overclock the intel chip better and with lower temps than the amd. P45's are good boards 2.

yep i'd have to agree.. intel combo takes the cake on that one.. on a side note that's some pretty good customer service from whomever it is you're dealing with... kudos to them for sure.
