The article linked by the OP is old, the PS3 system overhead no longer takes up that amount of memory as there have been firmware updates which have reduced it.

Secondly; yes, the PS3 has 256mb dedicated to the processor and 256mb for the gpu.
BUT, the gpu can also access the main system memory. Not only that, the gpu memory is ddr3 @ 1.4ghz (the same as the Xbox 360's 512mb total memory), but the system memory is XDR @ 3.2ghz which gives a higher bandwidth.

Long story short, you could link articles all day which would make one console or the other look better.

Seriously though, instead of posting links to 'Microsoft rep said this', and 'Sony rep said that', maybe it would be more productive looking at things on a hardware level. Even so, you can't make direct comparisons of the technical capabilities of different consoles, they just do things differently.

PS3 is more than capable of delivering great looking games. End of story.

I would hardly call the PS3 a failure. Mine works fine, has some great games and plays Blu-Ray discs. ie. Does exactly what I bought it for.
