Even though the Core i9-13900K has not yet been launched, a considerable overclock has already been accomplished. A monster 8 gigahertz was obtained using liquid nitrogen on just the P-cores with hype... Overclock towards 8.0GHz with Core i9-13900K (Raptor Lake) flagship already achieved
8Ghz on Ln2 on ES sample , maybe 9Ghz on the hands of Shamino / Elmor / Nick Shih or some overclocker legend using Liquid Helium on a Golden Sample non ES
Considering how long overclocking has been a hobby for the PC enthusiasts, I'd guess there are 50 years old uncles, or even fresh grandfathers, out there eagerly waiting for their Intel 13000 and AMD 7000 samples.
All it did was boot really.... overclock meh. Can it actually do work, listen to music, play a game, dx11 dx12 issues? I have record overclocks too but if if its not usable or stable its not a good overclock... a cinebench test does NOT count. I do not use cinebench in my daily work. Thats like a rocket car that you drive but it will crash every single time you try to turn...
Looking like an exciting gen for xoc mate! I'm certainly going to be picking up a couple Raptor Lake chips. Maybe you'll make a little return
Did any ln2 or dry ice overclock record had any chance to run stable for hours of gaming ? Most of the times is barely stable enough to get the bench to finish and that's it.
Is just that, make a successful run of the bench and turn off. They have a very limited time for the OC of that magnitude.
how about a great-grand-uncle? my bestie has two LN2 pots... all of his rigs are his "children": and he does say it's cheaper than kids...
Indeed my old friend xoc will be great on this gen Raptor Lake. I'm having too much fun traveling all over the world ( I just came back form a 21 day vacation at Costa Rica and it was amazing ) , after retirement from xoc and i would not change this new way of living for the old one i had , xoc has become way too expensive for me to follow ( liquid nitrogen price sky high , Electricity Bill tripled over here sky high too , shipping prices has gone upwards , etc... ) , not worth it for me even if i get free hardware and sponsors. I'm happily retired for good this time good friend Matt .
Well you don't exactly see people doing school runs in pro mod drag cars or going through take away drive thru's. If people didn't bother seeing how high processors can go then Intel would stick us with locked lower frequency processor chips.
I was asking rhetorical to point out that no ln2 clocking is ever for day use . It is PC dragster pretty much.
This is not my particular hobby or interest, however I can see the attraction but not am afraid the point of making the headlines, the CPU can never be used in this configuration and it means nothing in practical terms, look at the record holder that was a disaster of a CPU for AMD it was so slow Intel felt compelled to do nothing for 9 gens other than raise prices and rake in the money, but thats ok because our CPU hits 8.7ghz but am sorry a celeron can beat it in most benchmarks! Sorry just dont see the point in wasting time doing this. "NB" It now seems Intel are claiming 6ghz for one of the chips out of the box looking at the power consumption of another leak at 350+w for a 5.8 run god alone knows what this will chew if thats the case! Has netburst returned?
