Ha fatatlity = exact same thing + 50% extra cost Who wouldn't want to pay extra for the same thing! Then you could brag how you payed more for your keyboard than some of you friends did for their first car...
Well seeing as each key is a little display... rather than key functions I'd have the whole thing just display my nude model of choice. "Her left nipple launches Firefox".
Look, I can see why you guys are complaining about the price of this thing, but I can't understand how you don't see why this would be awesome. Imagin pulling up Quake, and all the number keys switching to the full color symbols of the quake weapons. Or, depending on how you have your game configured, the "g" key may take on the picture of a grenade, "WASD" becomes arrows in those directions, the possibilities are really endless. It would be really cool if in RTS when you hotkeyd units the symbol for that unit would show up on the key you hotkeyed them to. The bottom line is that I forsee in a few years all keyboards being like this. OLED displays are getting insanely cheap, and the price is going down exponentially. This keyboard is ahead of its time, which is why it is so expensive. However, I can promise you this will sell. I know plenty of people that would buy this, hell I know business guys that spend 3,000 on their laptops without even thinking about it (SONY VAIOS and whatnot). Don't act like nobody in the world has the money to buy this. Plenty of people have money, and a lot of those people like to buy the nicest stuff they possibly can. But I digress...
Don't forget its little brother, http://www.i4u.com/article5025.html And even found a Canadian site with it for sale, http://www.shoprbc.com/ca/shop/product_details.php?pid=24400 on;y $219.00 CDN.
The design could certainly be worked on but the idea is something I'm looking forward to using. I'm switching between language inputs and it would be nice to have a board that shows the input. It could also be handy for CAD, photographic manipulation, and other content creation. What would be kind of neat is if when you hold down, say, CTRL, it displays the shortcuts on the keys. While not necessarily useful for high-level users, it'd be great for people that are just figuring out their shortcuts. (Imagine it for the ALT+number pad combinations, that could be handy)
It's supposed to be like the iPhone. Something you spend money on but is not worth it I will be getting an iPhone
You would be surprised how stupid people can be. It's probably not going to make it, because I think 50USD is way to much for a keyboard and I can't imagine someone thinking hell yeah 1500USD! why not?
Actually, judging by experience, some people are more likely to buy extremes like $5-$10 keyboard or $200-$1500 keyboard while avoiding common "mediocre" $20-$50 ones...
Wow the posters here need to realize that computers occasionally get used for something besides games..
The iPhone is useful though since it's a PDA. I still can't see a practical use for that thing at that price. No business is going to buy it because the costs cannot be justified. The only thing that's missing from it is the Fatal1ty sticker.
