    As the quote in the OP says, its certainly going to be possible with bigger DDR5 memory modules in upcoming servers and workstations.

    Yes, some servers have this. Even some high end video editing (especially that do 3D graphics work) have this much RAM.

    (i just realized in the OP it says "Upcoming servers and high end workstations", lol)

    well the current WRX80 (used with the 5995wx) workstation platform , already supports up to 2tb of memory, so yeah. I wouldn't be at all surprised if your average desktop board ends up supporting like 512gb of memory by the end of ddr5 , given that 128gb udimms are a possibility in the future.

    Why should an average desktop board even need to do so when the average consumer OS supports less?
    Besides that it doesn't add any benefits to the average user either.
