I've never really had a bad experience with this company myself, and buy a lot of stuff from them though admittedly I've not had to return anything. However, I know A LOT of people, particularly at Hexus, hate the company because of their apparently terrible customer service. Someone hates them so much they even made their own website... http://overcockers.tripod.com/index.html Vaguely amusing, perhaps. Or childish. Depends how you look at it. I think the overcockers.co.uk site was taken down so they had to mirror it around. Also there's the forums: http://forums.overcockers.com/
They are based just down the road from me , never had a single problem with them , quickly replaced A dead cathode I bought from them when I drove down. (about 25 or so miles)
I am glad that i did not order form them in Europe, that is why i waited to come home and shop at newegg. The best place arround. too bad they do not do Europe.
lol , I hadnt really heard of anything bad about them before these sites wildstyle posted. But the sites are pretty old Circa 2003 so maybe the customer service has gotten better since then? And I always shop at 3 stores that are quiet close to me , usually im too lazy to wait for items to be shipped so I drive and collect them from them. I even considered applying for a Job there a while back.
I shop at Overclockers quite regularly. Never had a problem with support, neither have I had to return a product. Though the site did make me chuckle once or twice.
Haha. I read the bargains section in the forums and read their front page. That's about it. I'm not registered.
Didn't we have a horror story in the Gen. Hardware forum a couple of months ago about some bloke who ordered a FX-55/6800Ultra SLi system? First they couldn't come up with the components, so they tried to sell hims omething differently. Then, when they shipped the CPU on the mobo with fan attached but without any thermal paste or pad. One of the Ultras was shot and he had to huzzle real hard to get it all done correctly. Sli didn't work either and no one @ OCers had a clue why. I don't remember who it was tho!
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=139469&highlight=overclockers.co.uk was the thread. It dosnt mention anything bad about OCuk though.
i think komplette are the nearest european newegg comparison and ive dealt with both and was satisfied with both.but newegg is definitley cheeper and i had to get my friend in the us to get me the components for me and then ship to me .it was worth the hassle i got my 3c p4, kingwin awc1 lc and 1g twinx from newegg. and i got a dodgy asus p4c 800e off komplette.ie wich was faulty and had the cash back on my cousins credit card 2 wks later.
preferably just refer to this site.. http://www.romulus2.com/feedback/chart.php?1 it lists and rates all the UK computer retailers (OC.uk arent doing too good)
w00t OCUK rocks! http://forums.overcockers.com/viewtopic.php?t=47 ahaahaha shame you have to always get special delivary, not that I could wait getting standard
Hmm, seems like I'M mixing two threads in my mind. There definitally was one where they forgot to put thermal paste between an FX-55 in a no-fan tower. Ah well, my memory works badly when I'm hung over!
C*ntch of bunts! I stopped using them after having so much hassle, they just don't respond to any contact, this not based on one bad experiance but 3 well once unlucky twice ok get it sorted third time ok I''ve been stupid and should realise how they can offer such competative prices. The third time cost me dear as I failed to deliver a system in time for Christmas due to their ' most things work so take the pain on dud gear.' attitude. that said it's a very good resource for easy browsing of current products before going off and buying elswhere, such as Kustom pc, Komplett, Aria and CCl. That said if they have a really competative offer on then you have to play the game and take the chance that you won't need their customer sevices.
OC UK does have quite a user-friendly interface which makes it easy to browse around stuff even if you arent buyin anythin from them.
I heard that products from there were a bit on the expensive side and their customer service wasn't good. The only thing I ever bought from them was my Power Supply; and that was only because nowhere else had it in stock at the time. I mostly buy my stuff from Ebuyer and Komplett.
