    Hello all

i just got edifier s550 , i can't say any word about it

but i have a little problem
    i have a built-in sound realtek ALC889 and Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer

i tested both but i found that the onboard card is better !!
i don't know why , it's very clear even with " powerful " equalizer mode
but the X-Fi XtremeGamer i don't know what is wrong with it
the sound is not clear as the onboard card and the bass also

maybe it's bad driver or bad settings ??
but i am sure that i am using last official driver for my creative card

and what i have with versions is :

    the driver : SBXF_PCDRV_LB_2_18_0013
    creative alchemy : ALMY_PCVTAPP_LB_1_25_10
    Creative MediaSource 5 Player : CMS5_PCAPP_LB_5_26_02

please help me , what is wrong with my X-Fi XtremeGamer ? :(
    any help friends ?

You make sure the settings was set right, You can also give your paq drivers a try which is in this section of the forum. At the very top, its a sticky.

Sounds to me like you have a serious driver issue or setting problem.

make sure you have the latest driver from creative site for your x-fi ... if you do have it than most certainly you have something wrong in your settings, in most cases when users experience low results with their x-fi cards is because they have wrong settings

Perhaps your card is just damaged.

OK .. i guess i started to know the reason of my problem " i guess " !

it's because of the " bass " from the ( front , rear and center )
those speakers trying to Produces some bass with the sound

i don't want that , i want the bass to get out from the sun only , not the front , rear and center

ok , i tried to use ( Speakers and headphone > bass settings > enable bass redirection )
the sound became great at the front , rear and center without bass , it's clear and good now

but wait .. i have a new problem when i used this enable bass redirection option
the bass from the main sun became lower !! :(
because that option makes the bass lower , but it solves my problem as i said above

so . i guess the only fix for that problem is activating that for the ( front , rear and center ) Only
how can i make that ??
how to stop the bass that coming from ( front , rear and center ) speakers without making the bass in the sub lower

please help me with that :(

Just throw the Creative garbage in the trash where it belongs and buy an Asus Xonar card....problem solved.

Bass redirection should not make your Sub, lower in level. If I am understanding you correctly. You sound like you have something seriously wrong...either settings or connections or both.
What happens when you adjust the slider?
What happens when you do a speaker test, do you get the right signals coming from the right place?
It almost sounds as if your sub is not receiving the proper signal.

yeah the test is working fine and all the channels is connected right

but i almost got the problem's reason
it's because of the bass coming from the front , rear and center as i told
because i tried to turn off the sub's sound and listen to the front , rear and center speakers only
but i still hear some ugly bass coming with the sound from front , rear and center !!

i want to stop that bass and make it from the sub only

ok .. about Bass redirection option , is it possible to make it enable for front , rear and center Only and not the sub ?
and leave the sub itself working normally without Bass redirection , any option for that ??

This can be done with the new Auzen X-Meridian 7.1 2g, which is the card I'm getting and when I am done testing it, I will write a review :)

sadly, there is only a general crossover adjustment with the X-Fi products :(

still, the X-Fi has THX and full EAX 5.0 so there are pros and cons for both...

Hard to decipher though, but When your saying "ugly bass" im guessing your meaning distorted, probably because the front speakers aren't up to the job, and your wanting the crossover to happen at a higher level.

It could just be that you prefer the sound on the onboard rather than there being an issue with the Creative card, strangely it does happen, i've done blind tests with people and had them pick mp3 version over the CD one.

As for picking an Asus Xonar card over Creative one, been a while since i had a Creative one, but the Xonar's have crap driver support, and i have given up on it for anything analog based anymore.

Tho Guys like uni make Xoanr users life easier with his Uni Xonar drivers. While Creative chipsets have people like Pax and Daniel_k. nothing is gonna be perfect all hardware will have software and hardware issues as well as being fine with people with different config. I didnt have issues with Asus drivers I only uses Uni xonar drivers for the modding he does.

You can have issues in digital as well as digital isnt perfect. Only way to not have issues is to start playing without any sound but that wouldnt be any fun.

@op try changing the crossover settings til it gets it how you like it.

Yeah, his drivers have fixed a few issues that still affected the real ones, but unfortunately none of the issues i was having, mostly to do with Wasapi, whether it be pops and clicks and complete drop outs in ReClock, or sync issues with MP Audio Renderer, while also having no support for Wasapi Event Driven.
Probably not something of importance to alot of people, but big issues for me.

Digital can have issues too, but its very unlikely, as long as the card can pass the audio to my receiver then all is good, plus i had forgot how much better sounding the reciever is compared to ffdshow/AC3 Filter.

    To be completely honest:

    1. Uninstall the creative drivers and any programs that came with it.
    2. turn off computer
    3. remove the seperate audio card.
    4. turn computer back on.
    5. enable the onboard HD audio.
    6. just install latest Realtek HD audio codec.
    7. Have better sound quality / easier to manage options for what to do with audio / less problems with games crashing because of buggy creative.

Well This is just my honest opinion.

(I used to have a motherboard with a Realtek ALC890B HD Audio Controller onboard and I would actually replace my ****ty VIA / Creative in a heartbeat if they were interchangable. Damn that realtek was better than any seperate audio card could ever get. )
