Whew, the finally fixed the association bug, .441 working good here. Now there's just that windows media player seek bug, but i personally can live with that as i use other media player for everything.

I noticed I no longer get notifactions when there are windows updates anymore in the AC,

I have not seen any windows update notify me via AC in month or 2, but If I randomly check WU in settings there is updates pending

You need to turn on background apps in privacy.

hmm I do have that off, for a reason is there a specific app i need to turn on to get those windows update notification?

For time being I put it back on but turned everything off but "Settings" and I will see what happens. I know MS has this idea that thing should run in back ground even if they never used, but I dont subscribe to that

I forget the exact setting but I remember having the same issue when I installed 1809 (as many others, check Tenforums that is I get windows discussions).
I have the top global background app setting on and all others off except windows security, if you set say emails you get notified when emails come in if you use windows mail.
I guess now background app settings actually do something.
In Privacy, I also under notification have both top global settings on but nothing shows in the list below (not sure this is needed). Along with settings>system>notifacation and actions, I have "Get notifications from these senders" on and in the list below mostly all off.

I think I had to do the last two ones to get notifications working from 3rd party processes like Flux and Process lasso for example.

PS: If you already have some of these on, then try toggle off, reboot and reenable, should fix it.

Edit: I just realized I posted above info for the wrong build, that was something that came up when moving to 1809 but the toggle settings might help even here.

Yah I just put on globally for now and turned everything off except settings I will find out if it fixes it, it still happens I will put windows defender security center on too, the other "apps" should have nothing to do with WU notification, seeing as windows silently updates all those apps which can be seen in security and maintenance along with most other WU and other things silently updated, I prefer not to have background apps on for apps i rarely use
I just want my WU notification working, if you dont mind can you link me to the topic you referring to an tenforums

if you set say emails you get notified when emails come in if you use windows mail.
This has me interested though, IF this actual notify about emails and while the mail program isnt really running/open I might try it out

Yes, you don't need mail open, or I should say you will get notifacations when it checks for mail, like when I boot in the morning you get them.
I have it off now and there a setting right in the mail app too.
Let me see if I can find the notifacation post.

    I think this is it.

well have background app "setting" enabled in privacy does not restore WU AC notification, seeing I randomly check WU and saw updates and when I checked AC there were no notifactions, so now I turned on "setting" and "windows defender security center" in Privacy background apps

It also takes a bit of time for the setting change to kick into action, like a day or so.

I set "settings" on in privacy background apps on saturday 12/8/2018 I had pending updates sitting in WU 12/12/2018 with no AC notification, I turned off "settings" rebooted, Turn "settings" on along with "windows defender security center" and rebooted 3 times after words today 12/12/2018.

Something is busted and I think a Update did it but i know AC notifications work cause it works for with other stuff, Only thing I can think of is I disable rempl task and window remediation service which what kept re enabling rempl task when I disabled it, which part of the stuff that force updates last I checked, but WU AC notification were not working long before I started doing that.

I guess next step will be to re enable both them

yup, it is buggy, it just happened to me now, no notifications but I toggled all the settings and got it back in 1/2 day.
but now action center icons are wrong, toggle them and now it is back right.

Seems every update needs to reset settings now.

Windows 10 is so buggy its bugs have bugs, Joke aside I think it 1803 build Before this build I never has single issue with WU notification not coming threw AC, I have not had WU notification come threw AC in months now. But Action center works for notification, Every time I launch Witcher 2 I get notification for it

But hey atlest they fixed the bug where UI was saying Updates will be automatically download every time you go in to WU you would have to go into advanced and back to see it say you will be notified first, And atlest the actual function of Notify before Downloading works.

Every 6 months a new build is bad idea and RS5 and all it issue and it being pulled proved that. they need to scale back to once years and get there Q/A in check

For WU, I am not sure I ever saw a notification for it.
I am proactive on that so I am not sure.

I looked around google and found this, group policy editor setting.

    https://social.technet.microsoft.co...0a/windows-update-notifications-on-windows-10

There is also settings in control panel, "Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Security and Maintenance\Change Security and Maintenance settings"

but WU is grayed out so I guess can't be turned off.

WU is grayed out for me too and the above setting is what I use to set WU to Notfiy before download
