    Looking forward to seeing this!

I'm quite tempted to jump on this, though I'd have to go the 5820K route, really not keen on spending £250 on RAM either lol

Oh the MSI Z87M I bought from you sometime ago is working great btw :)

    I'm getting it.

When you get set up, please post the Aida64 cache and memory benchmark results. I am interested to see the difference in DDR3 and DDR4. I'll post my DDR3 results now.

Its not a bad price considering how much power your getting, im tempted to go for one myself but im too lazy tbh. Will be interesting to see performance when the waterblocks arrive:)

Planning on upgrading to this platform myself, feeling cpu limited in strategy games. The solder tim should make overclocking much easier than recent releases i hope. I need to decide whether to jump to watercooling, or stay on air as ive always done. I also want the sata 3 for a newer ssd upgrade, still on vertex 1.

But what I'm waiting for is the 880/980 gtx release and grabbing 2 of those, waited longer than I should have to upgrade the video cards, I've been vram bottlenecked so badly. I'm not sure if id be better off buying the rest of it now or waiting for the late Sept nvidia release though.

Dont know what i want to do. Get the 8 core, or get the 5820k as placeholder then grab 14nm skylake-e 8core.

Will X99 be compatible with Skylake do you think? Skylake E probably won't be around for 3 years, I imagine Broadwell E will be compatible with X99 but perhaps not Skylake!?

Imo the only fair comparison would be if he used dual channel, in quad it will be 58gb/s for sure.

Speaking of ram Get Crucial Balisitx Elite,

Yeah from what's been seen so far the frequency of the DDR4 makes almost no difference to performance across the board, it's all in the timings.

I know DDR4 has higher bandwith. I'm just interested in a comparison between the 2.

Oh yeah broadwell e, my mistake. Skylake probably be a new socket.

I meant hold out for broadwell-e. By then they would have refined CPUs/DDR4

Me too, that's why I suggested that he should test it only in dual channel to really see the diff. between DDR3 vs DDR4

I get this @ 2400mhz CL10, one older screen was running 4.6ghz here..

I'm curious to see your temps on the Noctua :)

I will board the train towards the end of this year, december probably. But god, I can't wait!
Right now I'm opting to get the 5930K, the Asus X99 Deluxe (or if there's problems with their sockets the MSI X99 Gaming due to it's streaming engine), although I'm not sure about the RAM (go for 32 or just 16GB to get double sided modules).

Ordered a 5820K, 5930k not worth the extra $200 just for extra lanes.

Still waiting on a mobo, want to get Asus X99-A, It has the same VRM circuitry as the Rampage Extreme but doesnt have all the useless features as the deluxe, ie wifi, crystal clear audio, etc plus it has 2x PCIe 1x slots which i need for my phoebus and I210 network card.
