This is so the new Flying Wild Hog studio can gets it's footing so to speak.
While the main studio is working on Shadow Warrior 2, this new studio can make this update as a means to getting up and running before they launch out on their own project.

The Extended Edition isn't a remake/remaster. It's the base game with the Exile DLC added in.
There were some minor updates to the engine, but nothing major.

Bit of a necro post but i loved this game, never played the DLC so can't comment but i seriously liked the main game.

One of my favorite single player shooters of all time and the Gfx at release where very good i thought for an indie game.

Hard Reset Redux releases Jun 3rd. This coming Friday.

    Costs $19.99

I grabbed it. For 3 bucks... figured, the hell not.
Besides, it's supporting a great new studio that I really enjoy. Flying Wild Hog have done great things so far.

They've added a sword weapon. Added a new enemy type.
Ported the game to the newest version of the Road Hog Engine, so, improved load times, performance and stability.

Added in quicksaves. Rebalanced the difficulty, revamped enemy placement and encounters. Updated lighting, particle effects and other graphical elements.

Nice! Relatively cheap too if you already bought it. :)

I'm not a huge fan of their work, but they seem like good devs.

It's also an easy choice when it's £2.25.

    Prebought, can't go wrong with 3 €.

Lols, for a while after buying I kept clicking on Install games and wondering why nothing happens... :D

I know Shadow Warrior 2 will be an instant buy for me.
And, I'm really interested to see what their new studio will be working on now that Hard Reset Redux is finished.

Tried out the Redux version briefly.

Visually, you would be hard pressed to notice a difference. But, the HUD is slightly smaller. Weapon models look more detailed, smoother transformation animations.
The world, lighting is softer. In fact, the overall look of the game is softer. Removing some of the gritty look of the original. The new shader system definitely helps. Metal looks like metal, stone looks like stone... as opposed to them both looking like the same material.

Gameplay wise this is were this version is noticeably different.
The new dash move makes combat MUCH more manageable. No longer are you stuck trying to outrun enemies that are faster then you. When one of the large brutes charges, a quick dash to the side and you've got the upper hand.
Also, the rebalancing of enemy placements makes encounters more fun. It's no longer "it's hard because there's a lot of tiny enemies" type of setup.

^ I suppose you cannot carry over your savegame from vanilla Hard Reset?

    No.

Since it's on the newest version of the Road Hog Engine, save games from the original game are not compatible.

Hard Reset was on the first version of the engine, since then we've seen... four major updates to the engine. One for Hard Reset's expansion, Exile.
Then a massive update for Shadow Warrior. Followed by that version getting a major update.
And then the Shadow Warrior 2 build.

I had to get it. Gonna try it tonight. Feeling like playing HR again. :p

Anyway, hows the performance compared to original? 60fps/1080p possible?

As the newest version of the Roadhog engine it's using DX11 now (And it supports both 64 and 32-bit with two separate exe files.) however with improvements to for example ambient occlusion and shadows there's also a loss of MSAA so it's only FXAA now though ReShade SMAA works well too.
(Game runs great so far but it's using mostly the same assets as the original game and the various shader improvements and such aren't really enough to stress modern GPU's unless you downsample the game, I do expect the Shadow Warrior 2 game to be a fair bit more demanding in comparison.)

It runs over 200fps, lol. Optimization is amazing. I had to turn on vsync (25% GPU usage to keep 60fps).

I dint see ingame benchmark tho.

I see talk already of it being a downgraded version of the game, and that things like AO, etc, are missing. I've already confirmed through personal tests that the AO is working properly, so take those claims with a grain of salt.

There is no 3D support anymore... Pity, original game was great in 3D.

Maxed settings, frame rate is always above 200. Occasionally going over 300.
    Game performs amazingly well.

And, the load times are a fraction of what they used to be.
