That 3% changes depending on where I am. It's sometimes as high as 7 or 8%, which is quite a lot when I'm already running in the upper 80's and lower 90's.

I imagine it would be even more severe for people with single cards.

I bet if you turn on hairworks you'll see that 3% jump up quite a bit. Every game utilizing hairworks i've played runs it on the GPU unless you specifically select CPU for PhysX.

    Yup.

Just for interest sake, I renamed APEX_ClothingGPU_x64.dll and this time PhysX stayed on CPU.

Mind going to a taxing spot? Maybe novigrad, lots of cloth there or if you know a better place. compare the fps difference?

The 34.4 > 37.9 is almost 10% increase in fps

Edit: In single card mode, physx set to gpu 0, dont use the 2nd card at all. Thanks :)

No, because Hairworks is tessellation not physX.
Also...how many Hairworks games did you play? I think there is like 3 in total. FarCry, COD and Witcher.

It implements tessellation but the actual physics model runs on DirectCompute. It uses tessellation to make the simulation more accurate. But yeah you're right, the PhysX setting doesn't effect Hairworks.

Yea, I'm just saying that you cannot use physx dedicated card to handle Hairworks. Because it's not physx.

    Here you go: http://imgur.com/a/CA8vT

I changed the resolution to 1080p and found a heavy-ish spot. Not sure why it's particularly taxing here, but anyway. As you can see, it's the difference between stuttering and no stuttering.

Almost 12% difference, definitely helps a bit to do cpu. Might be bigger boosts in other areas

    Total cpu average load 26.4% > 31.9%

Sorry, late to the party here -- are you saying the best solution, no matter the configuration of single or SLI, is to delete the APEX dll for better performance?

Edit: just saw Agent's reply -- so even if you do have GPU headroom on a card (standalone, or SLI), and even if it is just for cloth, everyone would benefit by forcing it to CPU. Interesting!

I'm guessing a different physx driver may or may not help? Game needs another patch imo as some people who weren't crashing before are now crashing wthin 5 - 10 mins in Novigrad.I haven't gotten that far yet, still trying out SweetFX presets.

OT: These drivers are running great for me, same performance as whql as expected, maybe it's placebo but on screen smoothness seems better to me.

The HotFix does not work for me

If the pupose of this hotfix was to prevent the monitor to enter GSYNC mode on the Desktop it is a big fail for me. My Windows Desktop is still in GSYNC mode, which is quite bad in therms of power/resource consumption...

By the way NVidia Drivers are going from worse to worse, they build a "hotfix" in order to solve one lone issue, and this issue is still here :D ... Funny ... By the way, maybe i still have this issue thanks to the Kepler letdown ?

Got tons of driver not responding errors, just like 352.86. Back to 353.06.

    1. Desktop is still in G-sync mode
    2. Gsync + Vsync ON (Windowed Fullscreen) doesn't CTD Dota2 anymore

    (will update more later)

Gpu Boost 2.0 enabled or disabled? I'm aware you know your way around modding gpu bios so not trying to be a d*ck or anything.

Yup. Deleting or renaming that APEX file has exactly the same effect as switching it to CPU in the control panel. Even the PhysX indicator shows that it's running on CPU once that file is gone and the performance increase is really noticeable in certain areas.

Also, there doesn't seem to be any difference in the quality of the cloth PhysX once it's on CPU.

Nah it is the drivers that are at fault. Any other drivers work fine. It is a pretty known issue. Boost is enabled.

Don't know if its a Swift problem but that didn't help.
