official beta 81.87

Discussion in 'Videocards - NVIDIA GeForce Drivers Section' started by GaryX, Oct 27, 2005.

  1. Dual-Core made a difference (sometimes big one) in performance even if games arent Multithreaded, indeed the 81.85 and later take advantage of the DualCore and delivers a great improvement like 15-20% more speed.

the most games i felt a real world difference in gameplay definetely is F.E.A.R, DOOM3 / QUAKE4, STARSHIP TROOPER, BF 2 , MOTOGP 3.

amazingly, Serious Sam 2, Black & White 2, Age Of Empires 3, didnt feel any different.

I have to admit though, that for me, the 81.87 are the best drivers to date,
dont know why, but IQ and Performance are top notch, as well as compatability.

amazing how PC can react so much different with 1 set of a drivers.

They are working great for me, videoplayback is pure, games are not problematic (COD2, SS2, BF2).
    Keepers for me.

With these drivers the screen of Quake 4 hangs while the game keeps running :)
So i play, the screen pauses and i hear myself walking and shooting while the screen doesnt :)
Have to jump to windowed mode and back to play any further.
So rolled back to 81.85 and everythings fine again.

I tried the 81.87's and after a couple of days, CS:S started to hang up, or crash to desktop.
only, in CS:S, no other games, or appl's.
So, I'm trying the 81.85's to see how much (if any) it loses in fps, or quality.
Guess there is something to that WHQL cert.

I put these on to test COD 2 and got BSOD. Also, none of my videos would play, even after enabling VMR and so forth. Gonna go back to the banned guys 81.87 as those were working fantastic. Sure wish the guru3d mgmt and the banned guys could just drop the swords and make up cause it was nice having those drivers here. That was 1/2 the reason I signed up here from the start. I agree with burnt ram about performance, and with Malak about nvidia just slightly tweaking these drivers, there is a saying that you can't polish a turd ;)

my computer crashed totally today (i don't know why, it taked 3 hours to fix it via XP rec. console) so i decided to try out these drivers with Nforce 5.11 drivers, and i finally get rid off full freeze (screen blanks and computer resets). Random freezes are stilll there but at least my games doesn't crash anymore. And OFP fog bug is fixed too.
