Alright, I'm sitting pretty stable at 3.6 right now at 1.2 v. Temps are super low like 40C load and 22C idle. Is it safe to add more volts? What is the limit for this chip anyway? I'm on air btw.
e0 is great, 1.85 is good 24/7 but not on the stock cooler, as long as the temps are low enough( below 65C ) its good 24/7
Those temps are amazing. What cooler are you using? Mine idles at 38°C even at stock speeds and voltage. I need 1.325V in Bios to get 4Ghz
I second that on those temperatures being amazing. I need 1.29375v to get 3.4 Ghz and my idle temps are 32-37 across all 4 cores. I'm using a Xigmatek HDT-SD964 with a bolt-thru kit. Gheed, what air cooler are you using?! I'm real curious to know what heatsink / fan and thermal paste you are using. Also, do you have your system in a case or on a torture rack?
Mine Idles at around 28C OC'ed @ 3.4Ghz mind you stock volts/freq aren't really any diff your always gonna be above ambient whether Air or Water cooling. That seems a lot for 3.4Ghz not sure exactly what im running in BIOS but CPU_z shows 1.160v under Prime95 Load Perhaps you need to tweak somemore
I find 40°c full load on air very hard to believe, unless the room temp is 10°c. What temps do you get on full load with the H50? I'm considering buying one myself but my Scythe Mugen 2 is still doing a good job. Highest i get is 65°c doing ten runs of IBT. ross, that does seem alot of voltage for 3.4. I only needed 1.2.
On a good air cooler up to about 1.4vcore will be fine for normal use. You should be able to get over 4ghz stable with 1.4v if your coolong handles it.
Yeah that does seem a little low tbh, with my H50 at this freq/volt i hit around 45C @ 4Ghz i think i was hitting around 68C max but then i haven't got my H50 setup the way corsair recommend im not drawing the cooler air in from outside but using the air from within the case, temps where lower when i had it the other way around, however i wasn't liking all the dust lol
Well remember guys I have the Q9550s which is lower watt compared to Q9550, so that helps with temperature. My room is about 65F at all times. Also are you guys talking about core temps? Those are higher, and at full prime stress they get up to 49C. I use Artic Silver 5 with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835200026 My case is a Lian Li, with only 1x 120mm fan from Scythe. I tried to make my case as quiet as possible and this setup is near silent. Update: I got to 3.8ghz at 1.22v and now I idle at 24C and load is 41C (after prime stress)
I didn't notice the "s" You should be looking at core temps. Nice low voltage overclock you have there
^^ Not bad but running Prime95 for 16mins doesn't really constitute stability, you need to run that for at least 8 hours. Try IBT or LinX see how she rolls

I`ve got a Zalman CNPS10X Flex cooler with 2x Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000RPM fans + Q9550 C1 @ 4.08 ghz 1.425V. My core temps don`t go over 70C in Prime95. It`s alomost as cool as the megahalems and it`s half the price! I`m very satisfied!
I'm confused with the voltages here. What are you guys talking about? Voltage in bios, cpuz idle or cpuz load? If i look at the voltage during IBT i need 1.24 for 4Ghz. Idle is 1.29 and in bios is 1.32. Which one counts?
max volts for your cpu is 1.3625 V http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLGAE everybody is writing that this cpu is good for o/c but I can not go past 3600mhz. With my previous e8200 I reached in 15min 3800mhz now I am playing arround with the q9550 and cannot get it any near.
