Trying to overclock the card without adding any voltage, then there will be no problem even it crashes.

you mean until it crash ?
but without increase voltage I will not get far from stock frequency , right ?

My N460GTX Hawk can go to 850MHz/4000Mhz without adding any voltage. Not sure how far you want to go

oh IC, I did not know that 4000MHz is the memory ?
Is it possible to hit 950MHz ?

    Thanks

Most of GTX 460 can hit 950MHz with voltage adjustment. Adding extra +100mv to GPU it will be possible. However, I wont suggest that you add so much voltage for long-term running if you want "safe OC." That will increase much more heat, and fan noise will be louder. Futhermore, GPU lifetime will be shorter as well.

    yes I understand,

can I do that until I make 3d mark test then lower it to stock again ? is there danger if I did that for an hour ?

    Thanks

For short-term usage, it's ok. Just make sure GPU temp is managed well. ( below 75 degree c)

Thanks alot my friend I really appreciate all your answers , I have two more questions please, but when you have time replay to me.

    - The gpu core and shader clock are linked but the memory are not, how much should I increase it ? I mean is there an equation or rule for that ?

    - the core voltage (mV) can I increase it to the maximum +100 ?

    Thanks alot

I believe my Hawk is without voltage increase stable at something like 865core/1000mem (at least 875/1000 was not stable). For 900/1000 I need +60mV for the core and this is also the overclock that I am now using all the time.
I have once tested 930/1000 with +100mV for the core, but after a few minutes Furmark the screen went suddenly black. So I don't consider this very stable, although it seemed to be stable during a 3DMark06 run.

But of course every hawk is different so you should not follow my overclock. Just use trial and error.

    thanks

    1. Yes you can increase it to +100. Nevertheless, it´s not a great idea to run it 24/7.

    2. The only person who can answer that question is you and your trial/error tests. Based on other people experiences, 950/970 is pretty unreachable, 925/930 is possible, but each card is different and reacts differently to overvolt/overclock.

    Cheers :)
