My biggest problem is that maya uses one core of the CPU and i also have a 22 inch monitor at 1680x1050 :D. Maya can't use the full potential of the card because is CPU limited :(, but the card is fully operational. Core i7 can boost maya in viewport because 1 core from i7 = 2 or maybe 3 cores of Q6600. My friend has a Core i7 and it rocks.

Can anyone with a fixed bios (8800gt) try this with quadro driver 190.38?
These are only the softquadro section, device id must be set through bios to use it.

    Code:
; NVSoftQuadroX patchscript - for Vista 64bit Quadro softmod
    ; based on gellmaR,Styler patchscript
    ; vista x64 - ultrabitch (for 190.38)
            ;date 2009-09-04

; A modded bios is required for this !!

    BakFile = nvlddmkm.old
    HlpFile = NVSoftQuadroX.rth

    @Ultrabitch

I tested your new script for 190.38 for windows XP x64.
Windows works fine, 3ds max works with maxtreme driver but Maya works in slides :D and specview freezes my comp. My games run fine btw. Seams everything opengl relate just doesn't work. I didn't do any extensive testing just a quick look so if there is anything you would like to mention just say it.
    I have a bios modded 8800GT showing device id 061A (FX3700).

That patch is only for 8800GT? :( OK then I'll wait :).

    will there be a 64bit win7 patch ?

I´ve tried all. but non worked (SoftQuadro Patch Folder)

But I have unlocked the 4600 or 5600 fx with Rivatuna 2.24c

Installed win7 x64, installed normal nvida 8800 gts driver, lauched rivatuner and nvstrap unlocked, and set custom to 4600 or 5600.

after win restart (win7 finds a new gfx) u can install the official nvidia quadro driver for win7.

but in the nvidia control panal (3D) there are just alot of games settings,
not apps like autocad or 3dsmax

    any idea ??

Did you patch with the script? If not forget it you didn't unlock anything.
Just cos your windows and nvidia drivers say you have a quadro doesn't mean anything. You need to check your cards performance in specview or something. I suggest you try Maya with maya settings in nvidia control pannel. There are two *.xm_ (.xml) files in the driver folder one is used for games and other for apps. Just copy NvwsApps.xm_ over NvApps.xm_. But this games setting panel happens only in case you didn't patch the drivers (I think so. I am not sure of this).
I didn't try this for Windows 7 but there is a patchscript for Vista x64 for drivers 182.08. I am not sure if this will work in Windows 7. If you did't apply the patchscript then continue reading the forum there is a how to in a couple of places (start with reading this thread first).

    are u sure ??????

I dont think I need to patch the driver, cause when I use RivaTuner 2.24c and set it to Quadro, after restart I can install the real Quadro Driver.

Yes sure. The quadro drivers have a protection against rivatuner nvstrap. So your card aldo called a quadro won't receive any performance improvements (no hardware acceleration), it will work just as a regular geforce (with the quadro drivers).

You can check this with software that measures opengl performance. We mainly use specview to compare modded cards so that we know if the mod was successful or not.
The only thing we were successful at this time is a partial softmod to quadro. Specview maya benchmark runs as a quadro other benchmarks don't and can crash your system.
We have successfuly accelerated Maya and 3ds max with maxtreme driver. I don't know if it works for other programs cos I only use 3ds max.
Maya will show you a substantial boost in performance over a regular geforce.

You need to measure the performance of specview 10 Maya bench with regulat driver and then with quadro drivers. If they don't differ then you haven't unlocked anything.

Try 3ds max with the performance driver (maxtreme). If it doesn't work then you didn't unlock anything.

ok, I´ve installed Xp 32bit to test it.

8800GTS 640MB with latest Nvidia driver and furmark benchmark = avg 36fps

8800GTS 640MB NVstrap latest Quadro driver and furmark benchmark = avg 36fps

8800GTS 640MB NVstrap + softquadro driver patch and furmark benchmark = avg 7fps

every time I patch the driver it is very slow

I just tested FurMark on a real Quadro FX1700 (CPU is q9550@2,83).
    Quadro FX1700 = avg 8 fps :D

FurMark only test a fur shader in opengl and is useless.

You need specview just to confirm the mod. Open nvidia control panel and set it to Maya profile (this is important), also turn off vsync then test specview 10 - Maya.
Also test it with a regular GeForce. If your scores sky rocket after the mod your mod is then partialy successful. That is all you get. Other specview benches will probably run slow or just crash your system.

Now try out your softmodded quadro on a program you work in then compare it to a geforce (screenshots are welcome) and report back here so we all know if the mod is usefull in the program you use.

This is what you should get in specview and Maya (bike and mountain scenes can be downloaded with links in this thread):

well if I could have find time to read over 100 replies and evaluate them I would read
I asked because I don't have much time and need quick answer
I am generally interested in ATI series but I may buy an nvidia solution
    Thanks for answering

    So it needs G8x chipset
yet bios mod available for 8800GT 512 (G92)

I just tried AutoCAD 2010 with Nvidia PowerDRAFT driver for Quadro FX cards and it works with this 8800GT using softmodded drivers 182.08.

This is the D3D driver as Autodesk is switching to D3D but I also tried the 2002 version of Autocad with an OpenGL version of PowerDRAFT driver and it worked. I didn't test it much cos I use AutoCAD only briefly for checking up drawings.

For everyone interested in 3ds max and quadro fx performance should look at this thread a guy wrote on autodesk area: LINK (in depth benches and comparison of quadro/geforce in max with maxtreme/d3d)
But then again there is scenes like this and this is why I love maxtreme.

Lets hope Nvidia optimizes (and finaly releases) Maxtreme for Max 2010.

wow, these seem to be really working (unlike the ati mods, which seem to work only on specviewperf)

could somebody try MayaCarBench? I think it's a better benchmark, because it's a scene with more realistic complexity

I'm planning on doing this mod and am looking into which card get. I'd much rather have a G92 softquadro if possible. Can someone help me find info on the BIOS mod to change the device id on a 8800GT 512 (G92)? Is it very difficult, or should I just get a G8x card?
