Zaeb I tried your folder copying and pasting to overwrite the original drivers, but when I install the driver I get a weird flashing screen and then it revert back to the original

If I try installing through the device manager I get this message:

    What can I do ?

Works fine for me on my GTX 680. Sounds like you're overheating or something/game files are corrupted.

This fails the Nvidia installer fails and installing via Device Manager give you "The hash for the file is not present in the specified catalog file"

Based on the error message it might simply be that it complains because the checksum for the inf has changed (obviously) so it no longer matches what nv_disp.cat says. Try simply removing it or make sure your Windows isn't set to only allow WHQL drivers.

Ok my bad windows 8 does more checks than windows 7 so you have to disable driver signature enforcement

As already stated you need driver signature enforcement turned off. If it doesnt ask you "are you shure you want to install driver" like when your installing beta driver then thats what it is.

I've uninstalled this as it causes too many problems in Skyrim with my SLI'd 460's.

In fact, I've had to roll back to 290.53 as every driver after that has caused problems in Skyrim from stuttering when entering a town or exiting a building in town, triangles/polygons appearing when looking in a certain direction and crashes TDR's after 30-60mins of play. So far 290.53 have never given problems in Skyrim so all the others have broken this game for me.

Thanks for checking. I'm certainly not overheating (I'm an obsessive monitor-er :) ) I think I'll delete my config file and let the game generate a new one.

Yes. They don't add newer model GPU's to older drivers. All you need to do to is copy these entries (in RED) out of the 301.10 driver nv_disp.inf and place them in the sections (in BLUE) in the nv_disp.inf for the older driver

    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1180% = Section004, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1180

    [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1]
    %NVIDIA_DEV.1180% = Section033, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1180

    And

    [strings]
    NVIDIA_DEV.1180 = "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680"

could be your Marvell sata controller (very common), could be your soundcard, or even irq sharing issues, some virtual drives like daemon tools or virtualclodecd install a driver that sometimes can cause DPC issues.

video drivers can mess with any of those things and cause problems.

disable anything you don't need in the bios and windows device manager, one at a time and check DPC.

Download and install LatencyMon . Once its open press on Green Play button, let it give u results. Also go to Drivers tab, and relist driver files in order to ISR count and DPC count. So u can see what is causing high latency on ur pc.

edit: if u can find use LatencyMon 2.04 . 3.0 giving less info on main report screen.

If it is WIN8 it is normal also for me... the OS sucks.

It still has debugging on, and overall the kernel is very raw... I've wondered myself...

Thank you wery much to guys that answered to my question. Will try and see if i can diagnose what is causing this constant high latency. Can this tool (latencymon) read individual latency for every process that's running? ndis.sys is 252 and dxgknrl.sys is 72 so that's 324. How can i see where 640 more goes? 960 constant latency by the way.

ok here is 2 pics relisted to irq and dpc. Hope some one can make sense of it and tell me what is causing high dpc. But from i can tell its that port driver

Worst nVidia driver ever for me :(

Occasional BSOD on boot with GTX580 + GTS250.

BSOD go with 250 removed but BF3 hard locks PC within 30 minutes.

Back to 296.xx and everything is rock stable again.

Real shame as BF3 feels loads smoother with them :(
