    heh..
Yeah I was never a fanboy of any company or brand and never will. Bang for the money I put in is what I look, my money is more important than being a fanboy. i will buy whateber performs better. I have already sold my 9800XT so as to gather money for either NV40 or R420. I will look at reviews from respected sites and will decide which one to get. If NV40 is better I wont hesitate to switch back to NVIDIA And if R420 is better I wont hesitate to stay with ATI either.

I'm running Omega 2.5.36a and v1.1 of the game on my 9800pro at 420/360. Here is a screenshot showing water and terrain at 1024x768, "paradise" render mode and all in-game details maxed. Driver options also maxed, AA and AF set to application.

The game is playable at these settings but normally I lower shadow quality to "high" and in-game AA to medium.

edit: cant seem to link to the pic so here's a link (copy+paste into browser). 56k'ers beware, it's .5 MB :)

thanks for all your replies on this discussion, i am using rendermode "Paradise" i'll set it as default to see if the water reflections are changed. thanks for that it never crossed my mind we'd be using different rendermodes! :)

i changed the rendermode to default, and there was no changes. im still confused :(

i have the specs on the left and i have all options in Farcry at very high except 'lighting' at low (not a big difference when set to even very high!), and water to ultra high, i play at 30fps nearly all the time with great quality, the water is awesome.

I have a comment on the 9800XT and 5950U, i saw some benchmarks which had the 9800 score 3 times higher than the 5950, btw i'm one of the biggest fans (fanboy :p) of nVidia and i will never buy ATI's products, but i must say that 9000s series r way better than FX series, but the 6000s r going to crush the Xs series of ATI :), the best 2 cards in price and performance is the 9800XT and the 6800GT, although they r from a different generation but i'm talking about price.

    that's just my opinion, i hope i haven't offended anyone :)
