i don't have a issue with playing older games lol, and even if i do, its not because of nvidia, its because of windows 7 os.

If I moved in to house from 1909, I would not expect fuses and light bulbs to fit...why would they ?

World has progressed..stick to old gear and GET STUCK !!!

I really hope this is a joke, because I laughed when I saw it.

I have plenty of games that use older forms of Direct X. Baldurs Gate being one of them.

no idea about the exact technical reason, but something about the way dx7 renders graphics was broke in 180+ drivers or so.

gothic 1 and 2 being cult games were the ones people noticed right of the bat.

the response for the nvidia forum rep so read between the lines.

I'd rather see the voodoo graphics come back. I wish Nvidia would have branched off and went down two paths. There are people today using voodoo cards playing today's games with modified drivers. It is too bad Nvidia killed it instantly when they bought Voodoo out.

Voodoo cards had the best IQ graphics that I have ever saw, but Nvidia came out with DDR memory onboard that dominated in the performance category and the price vs. performance. It was all at the cost of image quality.

With SLI or Crossfire, you would think that Nvidia and ATI would find a way to make graphics look just as good as the Voodoo series cards did.

If voodoo was essentially sold to NVidia, what would be the point of reviving the name now? They would just be NVidia cards with the voodoo name on them. The only thing I can think of that would benefit from that is the glide API, which is old and easily emulated. And with DirectX being as it is, other equally great API's like OpenGL are even rarely used currently.

Hewlett Packard has Voodoo now, (called Voodoo DNA) but you dont see them doing anything with it anymore. The last thing they used the Voodoo name for was a mousepad and a laser mouse...oh joy! The HP Blackbird needs a 2010 update.

wrong Voodoo, talking about the Voodoo series of cards from 3dfx, not the custom computer builder formerly named Voodoo PC which was bought out by HP. Two totally different things.
