Are we really having a "finewine" discussion on a reputable enthusiast forum ? I thought adoredTV bots either died down when they saw it's not really a feature of any card that wasn't performing to its fullest to begin with (facts) or they just confine themselves to his comment section. Well again consumers are screwed and nvidia will make even more money. I just hope prices wont go higher than it is now.
I'm already not buying at these current prices, so if they don't reduce or god forbid increase, i'll just buy more games for my PS5. Nvidia and AMD can keep their stock.
It should be pretty clear by now that the gaming market is not Nvidias main concern at all. https://www.tipranks.com/news/article/nvidias-nasdaqnvda-shovels-drive-the-ai-gold-rush
BestBuy price cuts (MSRP → new price): GeForce RTX 3090 Ti: $1999.99 → $879.99 GeForce RTX 3080 Ti: $1199.99 → $719.99 GeForce RTX 3080: $699.99 → $419.99 GeForce RTX 3070: $599.99 GeForce RTX 3060 Ti: $399.99 GeForce RTX 3060: $329.99 → $299.99 US retailer is running clearance discounts on GeForce RTX 30 cards from NVIDIA. https://videocardz.com/newz/us-reta...s-edition-gpus-rtx-3080-cheaper-than-rtx-3070 The price cuts apply to most RTX 30 cards, but RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti models were not affected by the new deals. This means that RTX 3080 offered at $419.99 is currently cheaper than RTX 3070 Ti at $599.99. Probably the most interesting price cut is for the RTX 3060 model, which is now listed at $300, which is around $60 cheaper than any custom model sold by the same store...
The top most used card of the latest generations of both AMD and Nvidia in steam survey is the 4090 with 0,31%, for anybody wanting to know. Placed 53rd if I calculated right.
Nvidia GPUs made by Intel look like they're actually going to be a thing Ever seen a man eat his own head? Probably not, but you're very likely going to see something almost as strange, an Nvidia GPU made by none other than arch rival Intel. I am starting to really hate NVIDIA, not only for pushing GPU pricing to ridiculous levels, but also because they are intentionally limiting the amount of VRAM on their mid-range offerings in comparison to the competition, i.e. AMD and Intel. I only play games at 1440p and bought my 10 GB RTX 3080 last August as a replacement for my then-almost 5 year old GTX 1080 Ti, which has 11 GB of VRAM (more than the newer card!). I expected this card to last me 2-3 years and hoped that by then the GPU pricing would have stabilised to more reasonable levels. However, I am now noticing newer games such as Hogwarts Legacy and Resident Evil 4 Remake requiring more VRAM to run with ray-tracing even though the card itself is more than otherwise capable of running the game with decent framerates. In the case of Resident Evil 4 Remake I cannot even play the demo with ray-tracing as it will crash after a few minutes. Lack of VRAM has been a problem with NVIDIA cards for years now and just makes their offerings look poorer value in comparison to AMD's cards who offer 12-16 GB on mid-range cards. The only upgrade path for me currently is the 16 GB 4080 which is priced at £1,200 - £1,300 here in the UK. The 4070 Ti isn't even a consideration at this point, having only 12 GB of VRAM and underwhelming performance versus the 3080 (unless you enable the 'fake' DLSS3 framerate feature in supported games). I paid £750 for my RTX 3080 but the next-gen equivalent costs almost twice as much! No wonder these cards aren't selling and are easy to find in stock on just about every website I've looked at. Of course, I could switch to AMD but, personally, I find their GPUs to be unexciting and usually way behind NVIDIA in terms of technical features such as DLSS and ray-tracing. And Intel are just so far behind both right now, being late into the market, that I would never buy one of their cards, especially with a large library of new and older games. I hope that the RTX 5000 series cards are more reasonably priced because otherwise the RTX 3080 may well be my last GPU purchase. The current pricing is out of control and I am not comfortable paying £1,200+ for a new graphics card. I look at my PS5 and Xbox Series X and really appreciate how much value I am getting for a mere £450.
