We have seen the performance improvement via consoles already, so PC's are up next, what ever the masses are up for it or not.
There are also some games out there which need this badly.

Microsoft announced that Direct Storage will be supported on any GPU that support DX12.
When it will come is another question as there's nothing related in current Windows Cobalt builds yet. So it will be a future update to Windows 11 at least for late 2022.

    How do you know?
1: 22000 is not yet public or leaked (only earlier versions are but 22000 exists).
2: You probably need explicit driver support (and it's either supported by the latest preview 470.xx drivers or not).
3: Even if 1 and 2 are true (supported by everything) there might be zero indication of it working (at least not yet or might never will be any visible indication in OS or driver control panels). Not everything is listed, yet alone contollable.

    1. 21390/21996 does not have this feature yet and 219xx branch isn't a "feature branch". It's a merge of 213xx(feature) and 216xx(user interface). So unlikely this feature will come in 2021.
    2. I guess that's true as this feature definitely will require PCIe p2p connection.

Anyway this feature should be release to developer first and maybe after 2-3 years we will see any game start using it. We have to be patient about it.

Way sooner than that, because of Xbox.

Xbox already have this. But when will PC game have this is a huge question.
Enable Direct Storage will make NVMe SSD mandatory or have to have two separate version of the game as the file structure or even graphic effects will be totally different.

And that's way before any game that will bump up the texture/media resolution/complexity to utilize the extra bandwidth.

Once the API will be released, which should happen around 21H2/Win11 launch.
Xbox titles already using it means that PC versions of said titles will be using it too, when it will become available.
Those without it will have longer loading times and more pop-in - up until some point in the future where games will just require it to launch.
