The way that every capitalism company works is that their new gains and success becomes ''new standard''. Nvidia is doing very well.
They just got a new big customer.
Nvidia Stock 2020 March/April at start of pandemic was 60$. in 2021 it was 330$
    Right now its 170$.
Thats a 3x Market Cap in 2 years. With a crazy spike.

Company that gained during very hard times. Gratz on Success!

Let me tell you, people want 6900 XT (used) for $400 I'm getting nothing but PM's in Reddit and Guru3D asking $400 price drop.
Also AMD used GPU's price drop faster than Nvidia, less than one week 6900 XT used was $750, now it's in the $600 ish mark.

Well that's what Nvidia gets for riding the crypto wave. While crypto-mining was hot they sold their cards for way above what the price would otherwise have been but now the market is flooded with used cards. Boo-hoo.

I had a 780ti i passed on the 900 series got a 1080ti for $700 brand new near release then they started doing there stupid pricing i passed on the 2000/3000 series i will pass on the 4000 series as well if they still refuse to price there cards properly and ultimately ill just stop gaming rather than get daylight robbed and if everyone changes there mentality and starts refusing to pay silly prices they either come down or they don't sell

I know what people want to pay for obsolete GPU's lol.I find it amazing as the cycle repeats itself every few years.
I have personally bought and sold a lot of GPU's,
I have got offers from people like RTX 3080 is worthless now I will give you $200 bucks or RTX 3090 is obsolete and I give you $350 max,I just tell them to frackoff and block them

I'm pretty positive Nvida will have to close and shut down.

    Not.

They'll just go on, farming people's money with a smaller margins on the GPUs (what's where they make or lose their money, not the cards) and with teasing people with "3090 performance for 600$!" and it will work.

If that 4070 really will be max 550€ i would buy it, even if a little overpriced for a xx70 model

Fwiw I have bought every gen top end GPU literally back to vodoo. My steam account is close to 1k. I have owned every console. All of it is now sitting around barely used because there are no games I want to play anymore.

Rdr2 and 2077 was last PC games I put over 100 hours into and a big GPU mattered. Every big game for last couple years I was looking forward to landed like a turd and I dropped less than 20 slogging hours in.

Ghost of Tsushima was last best game I played on anything and am seriously wondering how long until anything dethrones it. There is nothing on horizon that seems likely. My circle of gamer friends are having similair experiences even though they play very different types of games.

Have little hope for what games will look like 5-10 years from now. Noone is even trying to make anything more than just the skinner box casinos they have devolved into.

Gonna be great with 1500-2000$ GPU launches this year.
I wonder where the reasonable GPUs are gonna sit at - realistically noone needs the 3080s and so on. Except for raytracing.

Nvidia market today cap is 2x AMD.

    AMD is double after Pandemic.
NVIDIA is 3x against its own marketcap.

    That's the economics I see.
Nvidia is like they got women buying shoes once in a while, but now they get every dude coming in too.
    Not only Gamer customers.
Miners too will keep an eye on their products.

    Nvidia is doing good.

Overconfident and greedy nVidia has got some crazy margins. Lower them and sell bigger volumes instead ffs.

If miners stop buying card i hope gamers will pass a message to both AMD and nVidia by not buying new GPUs but buying pre-owned ones.

HU just did a revisit video and the 3060 is slightly faster than a 2060 Super and slightly slower than a 5700XT. Selling it at 500 euros today is indeed ridiculous as it's more than those cards were selling at many years ago.

AMD is getting close though. I have a RX 6800 (only 3440x1440 GPU i could find at an "affordable price" when i build this new PC) and it's a pretty good card. Shaders performance is very very good. The drivers are much better than they were 2-3 years ago and the Adrenaline app actually look like an application made in 2022. They still need to work on ray tracing but i think you have to travel back to 2007 for AMD to be this close to nVidia. With Intel entering the market and AMD getting stronger nVidia is not in a position where they can sleep on the job ...

    you aren't wrong but i will nit-pick:oops:

the bloom is off of the mining rose. the base numbers are there and those will continue to mine other crypto than ETH... BUT (nit pick coming) the rate of growth in this sub-market has slowed to a (metaphorical) crawl.
Nvidia had made a bet on the growth rate to continue rising for mining and they bet wrong (obviously).

i am part of Nvidia's market cap (incredibly small overall but still..)
over production and the over estimation of demand is always bad.
this doesn't affect Nvidia's viability as a company but it does affect wages and morale, plus leads to second guessing (appropriate or not). some people may be fired.

technologically this comes at the worst possible time for Nvidia and a lot of the market forces are and will be squeezing further profitability as Nvidia has already picked all the low hanging fruit of structural and personnel changes, while the costs of infrastructure expansion have soared and been delayed because of Covid. it is Very Hard to get personnel to physically come to all the spanking new facilities.
this is a problem throughout Silicon Valley and some have it even worse (Google).

AMD however sold off their signature campus (like GloFlo) and has rented. which saves them millions from not having to service the debt or pay real estate taxes. AMD employees have little issues about return to work.
