In the yellow in 2d mode!

I got the temp bug as well with a BFG 6800GT OC. My card now runs in the yellow in 2d mode! As a result, I'm not using the home PC much beyond gameing and shut it down when not in use. Although the temps should not fry my card, the constant higher temps can shorten the lifespan. The latest official release are the fastest drivers yet, so I just don't want to roll them back. I will just have to be careful until the bug is resolved.

I hate to nitpick, but since absolute zero is roughly -273 degrees Celsius (instead of 0), your temperature percent increase is significantly less than 20%. :book: ;)

I think he means a 10% over 53 deg C, not over the absolute 0

I guess it really doesn't matter now, nVidia has acknowledged the problem and a beta driver without the temp bug has alraedy been released.

I have the temperature increase with most drivers released after the official 66.93 and the beta's 67.03, 71.20.
Even the Official Whql 71.84 give me temp increase of 10 degrees.
Idle temp used to be 49 degrees celcius, now 59.
Stressed it used to be 56, now 62.

I bought the card the day it became available in the Netherlands.

    Greetings,

    From The Netherlands :D

The latest unofficial 76.41 don't have the temp bug.

No other replies back from NVidia but as they have now fixed it this thread is pretty much dead.

My contact says that i am free to email him with concerns and feedback wrt drivers and product so i will happilly do it for fellow forum members when another relatively big issue pops up that affects most of us.

    Cheers...

This is in fact happening on my ultra too - so all those saying it's not happening on Ultra's are incorrect.

PNY Verto 6800 Ultra 256 meg
    Bios: 5.40.02.15.07
    Drivers: 71.84

Use of the 66.93 drivers did not exhibit this problem. Updating to 71.84 caused my temp at idle to rise a full 10 degrees....from 63 to 73 deg C.

I have the stock fan, and probably should get more cooling in there because Im seeing most of you guys running normally at even 10 deg C below my "normal" idle temp.
