    Quick temperature question.

My Club3D 8600gt temps were raing under load , and were quite high under idle.
Like 50 celsius on idle and 70 on load.

After setting up Zalman vf700 Cu temps on idle dropped for 6 celsius and load droped for 18-22

    Its currently on 12v mod
How would t run if I set itup to silent mode?

Overclocking two XFX Alpha dog 8800GT cards...

    Hi,

This is my first post to Guru3D. Currently i am doing alot of interesting reading: flip2:. I have built a beautiful machine with two XFX GeForce 8800 GT 512MB DDR3 PV-T88P-YDD4 cards in SLI on an old striker extreme board inside an Nvidia coolermaster black 832 case with a 1000 watt coolermaster modular power supply. (I am waiting for the new Nvidia 790 chipset striker to be released before i upgrade)

These cards are overclocked already. Their factory settings are The Memory Clock 1.95 GHz and the Clock rate 670 MHz.

has anybody else got these same cards and managed to overclock them successfully? If so can they publish their settings?

Another question: is is wise to overclock two overclocked cards already? I am worried about the heat....

if heat is your concern then you should be getting an aftermarket cooler. My Manli 9600gt seems to have a fan problem where it drops below 30% when its @ 60c and above.

Cards are clocked approx to 740mhz on sli

    Heat ? 75c

    lol ... bummer

and yes you can o'c an oc'ed card further but make sure u dont jump straight to 740mhz

    Hi,
I want to set the same bios to my cards. Is it a good thing? I think 60.80.0E.00.05 is better than 60.80.06.00.12. Not shure... I'd like to set the 60.80.0E.00.05 on both cards then.
I do not meet particular issues atm but as I think my second card is slower than the first. They are not equaly cooled: the first is on water while the second on mighty airflow. The heat isn't a problem on the 2nd card (never reaches 70°C ) allowing me to clock them successfully though http://hwbot.org/result.do?resultId=652402. It shouldn't be a problem I beleave, correct me if I'm wrong please ;)

Any comment would be great yo..

Here I wanna share my exp with GPU cooler. I bought a Galaxy 9600GT OC that come with custom 2slot cooler. With that i got ~70C at load then I try mount my Zalman VF700Cu on it with AC MX-2 get ~61C Still not enough, I bought Accelero S1 Rev2 and mount a 120mm @ 2000RPM fan and my load never exceed 50C in my country environment temps of ~30C. I'm happy with it performance on part of it it silent.....

I have a geforce 8500gt 256mb and i was wondering, how far should i go without worrying about the heating? Going up 5 on core and memory im sure i wont have have any problems, but what about 10 or 15? MY friend has his rigged he got his 8800gtx super overclocked and for cooling he is using a house fan blowing inside his open case lol.... but it works for him

I've got an 8500 512, and I can push from stock 450/400 to 690/500, not that it makes much of a difference in this junker. I came across somebody with the 256 model who was actually able to push his even further. So you have some headroom.

Oh, and it goes without speaking that it's not worth investing in a cooler for this thing, so my clocks are on stock cooling.

    eVGA 8800 GTS 640 g80
hi, funky monkey. Good article but how can I flash bios on my system? I have just installed an eVGA 8800 GTS 640 g80 video card in my 2 year old computer. I have the power just put in a 700wt ps enough 1.5ddr memory and 1.16 TB of hard drive. got a cd burner lite scribe, 1cd/dvd combo drive,a raid controller for 2 ofthe added hds, pci lynks wireless card, all dressed up and no place to go and want to overcllock then update from windows xp professional to windows vista ultimate. but just learning about overclocking. Not new to computers though. At least 3 fans in the case maybe 4. I bought the video card on ebay I was not sure a gtx card would fit in the case and did not know the difference between the g80 card and g92 till now.I paid $160
    for this card.

Get the second 8800GT! It's certainly the cheaper card, and two 8800GT cards in SLI give you the same or better performance as a GTX260.

    p.s.: Welcome to Guru3D, Mark-32! :D

Have any of you guys ever overclocked a 9600gt? What is the maximum stable clocks that can be applied? I'm using factory overclocked card at 700/1750 MH for core/shader and 2000 MH for mem.

My CPU is Pentium D 820 which rather old and has average performance. I'm thinking that overcloking my card won't be effective in increasing gaming performance because of the CPU limitation. What do you guys think?

    Thanks for any reply

    hi,
you are good if u dont pass 70c new cards like 8800gt pass 80c easily but mine 75-70
also try overclock it it will boost much from 500 to 700 i think much boost!!

30% boost on cpu = 30% boost in cpu intensive games!! so ur cpu 2.8 ---3.64 == 30% boost

if u are overclocking cooler temps mean better oc , if u still below 70 you are good and oc potential of this card is 700core i dont know about the momory cuz every brand use a different memory
