Yeah wonder why they just aren't making this?

This, with latest console already doing its thing at native 4k in more and more newer games it´s just unacceptable to not have $200 cards doing the "pc thing" (+50fps high settings) on at least the same resolution.

Yes, the new consoles support 4k, but at nowhere near 60fps. There were serious trade-offs to be able to support 4k with such weak hardware.

Seems to be a simple case of having to many defective 1070 GPUs to offload. But even if the performance of the new cars is the same of the current 1060, i would like a different name to tell them apart, 1060LE would be my choice.

You can play this some games in 4K on the computer with the same, much lower settings. But instead it seems you are comparing the consoles lower settings, lower FPS to PC much higher settings, and much higher FPS 4K.

    Watch this unfold:
Those cut down 1070 will unlock "accidentally"...
...And sales of 1060 will go up as people will hope in this lottery. But very few will actually be based on 1070 silicon :D

My bad, had you confused with the guy who was complaining about this and was on a 1050ti. It sucks that we have to check profiles every time, wish there was an option to see signatures on this forum, where people can post their spec.

I don't think Nvidia is worried about the sales of their 1060.

Sounds like they are gonna sell broke 1070's as 1060's. For those that want new stuff.....AMD and Nvidia can't make a better chip at this time. They have been lazy. They are doing everything they can now to keep their stock from tanking.

Sure, both Nvidia and AMD, worth billions are lazy. They literally go to work to do f*ck all. They don't really try, they clock in, play some frisbee in the car park and clock out. Then pick up their mega wages at the end of the month.

There is nothing wrong selling 1070 chips that did not make the cut as lower tier products! The only issue here is that they do not change the name having diferent hardware under the same name exactly it is often quiet bad like the 1030's with the ddr4 memory . Hell this is the reason why we have 1070 and 1080 vega 56 and 64 instead of just 1 model

You do realise that the difference between the 1070 and 1080 is more than just the memory? And why would you prefer just to have one model? Like... just one Pascal card? And call in NVIDIA PASCAL?

Also, if the new 1060 has exactly the same spec, same number of cores, same ram, same clock, same memory bus, why call it something other than a 1060?

Use google translator if you do not understand. But to make it clearer to you:
"You do realise that the difference between the 1070 and 1080 is more than just the memory?"
    Yes, he does.

"And why would you prefer just to have one model? Like... just one Pascal card?"
    He does not.

"Also, if the new 1060 has exactly the same spec, same number of cores, same ram, same clock, same memory bus, why call it something other than a 1060?"
It is not same card, same GPU. Part of GPU is different. When you disable 90% of GPU, power consumption will not go down by 90%, maybe by 60~70%.

Console resolution has been cheapo video card subject for almost 20 years, at 30fps or at 20fps.

There's actually people naive enough on here that believe the current consoles support true native 4k? I thought we all knew better than that. I even saw a comment about it doing 4k 60fps...let's all throw our gaming PCs out the window.

I don't know what he meant by that post, but if English was your native language, you'd understand it the way I did. You Eastern Europeans tend to put sentences together in a manner that is sometimes difficult to work out. I read over his post a few times and I think I understand what he meant, but he didn't quite put it across clearly enough. You two are clearly on the same wavelength, I wasn't. Good for you.

Btw, you might want to google what a GPU stands for. I used the word card instead of GPU intentionally.

There is if you are viewing this on PC. Mobile still needs that but on PC it says 1080 right under your user name.

Damn, I don't have that there, will have to sift through the forum setting. Cheers for the tip.

Ah, found it, had to change to the default skin for it to show.

Why would they? They established their new strategy with the 1060 3 GB - trick consumers into buying a weaker product by only advertising one spec. They have ever reason to continue this tradition of deception (does wonders for shareholder value ;)). Hell, Nvidia would sell a 1050 under a 1070 label if they thought they could get away with it!
