When i upgraded my PC last year summer, i knew the new 3060 serie would be released around december(Netherlands) and though buying a 2070S would be stupid. I personal never go above 600 GBP.
But, knowing the warnings of possible new GPU availability when released, I bought the 2070S for 550 euro, the best card for around that price.

And what u say i totally agree on, now reading the performance of the 3060 i would have been paying today(10 march) minimum of 800 euro.
If i would sell my card today the price in The Netherlands go for around 700 euro(there are not any dough).

So at the end i have made a good decision last summer, because i love the 2070s. Almost all games always minimum of 60fps, mostly 80-140fps. I am blessed gamer i think!?

Interesting results. Nvidia cards / drivers showing some inefficiencies in certain CPU bound scenarios vs AMD.

It is interesting indeed, but I think he should have tested dx9/11 before publishing as I suspect it might be a dx12 issue rather than an overall driver overhead problem as I think its always been believed that AMD has advantages in dx12 vs nvidia.

Also I dont really play any dx12 cpu limited games as those tend to be better optimised for cpu, the real nugget to find is if this affects dx9, as its usually dx9 games that are single cpu core bound.

    Theres no overhead.

give the card little work to do, parts of it go to sleep.

That is a really big difference in driver overhead.
Anyone that doesn't have a high-end CPU, should just avoid Ampere and Turing.

It's a lot of work to do, but yeah, it's certainly interesting and relevant to also see how a gpu would perform on your exact system. And not just a generic highest end, bottleneck free one. Which is why it's awesome that there's so much stuff on youtube and you can find almost exact hardware setups you have, or plan to upgrade to, and get that perspective as well.

Crowd based benchmark figures could be something worth looking at. I am also looking forward to see if NVIDIA has anything to say on that matter.

Apparently they are unaware of GPU Boost and how it operates. Did they bother changing the power profile? For games that put little load on the GPU, you might not even get above low power 3D clocks. That's not an overhead issue, that's how it is designed to use less power.
