hey guys as you know i just got my 670 gtx when i installed 310.33 beta drivers it installed fine but i had crashes with bf3.

so i decided to install whql driver but here the problem started.

i tried going to safe mode uninstall driver from device manager, run driver sweeper do a clean install but nothing worked???.

every time nvidia installer says it failed to install nvidia update, nvidia hd audio, physx.

    i am running win 8 pro x64.

You shouldnt uninstall the driver in safe mode unless you have a very bad problem.

    When does the problem occur?
You can tell the driver to perform a clean installation in the Custom setup option.
No need for driver sweepers or anything like that with NVidia.
I would especially not use them on Windows 8 !!

If all else fails, roll back to a previous restore point.

I think this is a certificate issue with upgrading from windows 7 to windows 8.
I had this issue but never really researched the problem so I just formatted and did a clean install. But I looked into it just now for you after the idea I had of the problem after fresh install.
I'm not sure if this will work, its just an idea.

    Press Windows key + R
    Type certmgr.msc
    Goto trusted publisher>certificates.
    Remove Nvidia from the list.

It is up to you if you do this. I accept no liability :p
Basically what this does is remove the "always trust software from this publisher" you get when you install drivers etc. You should have the option again during install if you choose to do it again. You can export the certificate as a backup by Right click and click All Tasks -> Export. Save the file.

Did you use the advance start up options and disable driver signing?

I had exactly the same issue the problem was using driver sweeper it deletes some files necessary for the nvidia drivers to install in win8 i had to do a fresh install of win8 and all was fine again.Never use driver sweeper in windows 8 just uninstall driver from control panel or just run the installer and choose a fresh install.I am afraid you will have to reinstall win8.

yea i didnt know that damn it.

i was used to driver sweeper for every driver update with ATI.

but for now i was able to install whql driver by manually updating display driver in device manager.

but dont know if it installed all components but i have the nvidia control panel and its all good.

Safe mode, Device Manager uninstall and Driver Sweeper.
LOL that's 3/3 of what you are NOT supposed to do

    Maybe try System Restore

Thank you everyone for helping me.

yes kens30 you are right i will never use driver sweeper again.

i just formated and reinstalled windows 8 pro.

i ran the nvidia driver install and everything went fine

so next time i update i should just run the nvidia installer---->custom---->clean install right?.
