    Definitely, It sucks for those who jumped into the first interation tech expecting playable 4k RT framerates, but they should have looked back at history and known better :D

    Hopefully there were DLSS which compensated for 4K, but clearly it's not looking as good.

    Many people here upgrade every gen, so doesnt really mean much to them.

    @Astyanax
    ?
    i was finally able to sell my 1080 for a decent amount, so i didnt care to wait any longer,
    and was willing to add another 2-300$ from tax return to get a new card.
    open box 2080S FTW hybrid was 650$.
    what else is that fast/able to run everything maxed at 1440p@75fps right now?
    heck i can run most games at 2036p with DSR.

    most 1080 tis would have cost same, only adding vram, but not even fast enough to do 4K,
    and most 2070/S are air cooled (and drop boost, once you pass 40/50/54*C).

    I'm still playing most games fine and well above 75fps with my 1080ti (hell my card is usualy at 800mV and ~1800Mhz). You realize most of the time "ultra" is just placebo right?

    never stated anything different. but im not gonna buy a ti when i already had a 1080, the cost is almost the same vs 20xx chip,
    and most of the LC cards you can buy ARE faster than a 1080ti anyway, so more vram was less important than more horsepower/LC.

    never said which games i run (in detail), nor what "maxed" out means to me (its not just moving all sliders to the right).
    especially F1 2012 will look a lot different with HD texture pack and set to Ultra, than compared to HIgh (and no HD pack).
    so yeah, placebo...

    The 1080Ti had a MSRP of $699 and the 2080Ti $1,199. That's a HUGE increase in price and for no apparent reason since the raster performance upgrade was the normal 25%. Yes, RT cores were added and Ray Tracing was the main selling point even though there were hardly any games supporting RT at launch and that number has all but increased (it's safe to say that Ray Tracing is a failure). I personally refuse to believe that nVidia will be so blatantly stupid to sell the 3080Ti for $1,599. I don't think that the 2080Ti has been as successful as the 1080Ti so why push it even further. Their only saving grace here was that they didn't have any competition (at that time at least).

    Big Navi will work in our favor, I have to believe in this fact.

    Well 2080ti was also huge. But for sure nvidia was taking advantage of the situation being fastest by good margin.

    Hopefully I can finally upgrade from my 1080ti for true 4k 60fps?

    Hopefully the cost will not ruin my upgrade. 2080ti was not worth the 25% performance increase with 50% cost increase. I mean these cards struggled to Even run RT games stable at 1080p Even... I hope Nvidia learned from this in the upcoming series of cards.

    @Netherwind
    RT isnt a failure, upcoming consoles show that. there is a difference between not having enough "power" do to something and a failure.

    @EngEd
    was there anything that said RT@4K120Hz?
    what 1st gen release in the past 20y was fast enough to do the newly introduced features without perf impact compared to gaming without it?
    I knew how fast they were before the cards were released, so not really surprised there.

    and cost/value is related to your income/budget.
    almost everyone that i know, that had the cash to spare, bought one.
    same reason ppl buying +100K cars, dont worry about insurance/cost of ownership.
    its fine to say i wont buy something, but if something is worth it/cost, its up to the one shelling out the money.

    I have 1080ti from day one and I still play everything maxed >60 FPS in 1440p, no ray tracing. I am planning to skip this generation as well as I have no interest in 4k and ray tracing doesn't do anything for me. Eventually 2080ti will drop around $400 on ebay and that's what I am going to get to replace 1080 ti. Used market is just good enough.

    new gpu's are operating at less than the consumer board base clock in current tests.

    You stated msrp of one product then went out of your way to state inflated prices for the other.

    Good job?

    2080 ti MSRP is $999
