I don`t use any water cooling right, everything is air cooled.

I was just saying that due to the sheer size of the air cooled 4090´s, MSI made the right decision by making a much smaller watercooled card. Much easier to fit in a case that the other cards.

Sorry if i wasn´t clear enough on my previous post.

But what room ambient? Low 30s in a room thats 10c isnt great, in a room at 27c then yes its great.

I typically get 8 to 10 above ambient on a stressed session say a few hours. 33 to 34.5 is a normal max but I have seen 38 when I heated the room after a few hours!

What time do they release on October 12th for PDT? I hate having to call into work especially if they end up selling out immediately.

Usually, I don't care about power usage. I wouldn't put that beta test in my PC. Good luck to your guys.

A new PSU is $100-$200. You should have that covered already if you can throw away $1,800 on a GPU.

They won't this time around. It's nothing like when mining was at it apex. Just look at the new Ryzens, you can find them anywhere, same with motherboards and memory. They aren't selling out like before. If you want a card, you'll be able to get one i'm sure.

Have you seen the size of the 4090, it dwarfs the 3090, and the 3090 was a huge card compared to both the 2080 and 1080.

I'm interested to see what happens with the new 7 series from AMD. Usually the boards partners use the same coolers as the Nvidia cards. But if the performance per watt on these new cards are remotely what's been hinted at, AMD cards simply won't need them anywhere near as large.

I wish they would just release a basic edition without a cooler for us WCing folk, just the PCB and cables.

Well good luck running these things this winter as the UK has just announced 3 hour blackouts this winter to save gas.

The country has been put on notice that the chances of gas shortages this winter have risen markedly, prompting a contingency plan to prioritise heating.

The National Grid has warned planned blackouts could be imposed in some areas of Britain if gas supplies run low during this winter.

People will be able to claim money back if they use energy off peak times. So gaming at night will be much cheaper. OK it's worst case scenario but they must be worried to announce this.

    I remember blackouts in the 70s/80s when i was a kid. :(

Gurus would probably recommend anything between 1000W and 1600W. When I read about min PSU on Reddit some do say good quality 850W is enough while others say at least 1200W due to transient spikes (which some seem to know for sure will happen). As opinions vary greatly you should perhaps check out a video or two or measure your current system with an energy meter.

Which CPU and current PSU you have matters of course and if you have AIO or not and which 4090 you get (factory OCd ones will probably use more power).

So im already in trouble, bought a Asus TUF 3080Ti, slabbed on a EKWB waterblock on it, resulting in that i no longer can close my case. It is about 5mm too wide for my Lian-Li O11D. I could go vertical mount, but with a 360mm rad in the buttom of the case. It will be that high, that it covers the inlets on my CPU...

I gues that some of theese cards will have about the width, atleast the Strix card and mayby more, might not fit in

And? This small 3080 FE gets to 80C and fans run at 2000 RPM. It's the hottest and noisiest of all 3080. Context matters. I have a normal PC case, so small GPU that sounds like jet engine and gets hot is a big negative for me, not a positive.
