You are going to be soooo disappointed with 'big navi' ...They are targeting 2080 performance and they are going to charge you for it single digit percentage less than 2080 costs.

Can I have cool replecement for 2080Ti please? Something with performance between 3080 and 3090 but with 12-16GB of VRAM for 4K 2021-2022 gaming.. tyvm!

    8 -> 10 G is indeed lame after 4 years of waiting.

I hope AMD slaps them on the face later this year with entire mid-to-high range lineup having 12-16.
If possible in the consoles, it should definitely be possible in a video card !

Hmm, wasn't something else that moved from 8 to 10 this year ? Something I... Int... ?

Just wait next year for the 3080 ti/super with a 384bit bus and 12gb of ram and slightly lower cuda count than the 3090. It isn't a question of IF this 3080ti card will exist, but when.

Edit: if we are unlucky Nvidia could go with a 352bit and 11gb ram...I hope no.

Nobody else finds it SUPER weird that the 3090 is rated 350W TDP just 30W more than the 3080 at 320W that has less than half the memory and a SHIPLOAD less CUDA cores? 30W for 14GB and almost 1000 CUDA cores more at the same clocks? No chance...

Seems to me that if they are truly on 7nm. That they made it work between Samsung 7nm EUV (crap yields, thus the huge CUDA core cut, and less performance per watt) and TSMC 7nm EUV (better yields for that huge 3090 die and better performance per watt)

    Also what I notice is:

    RTX 3090 - PG132 SKU 30
    RTX 3080 - PG132 SKU 10

where is PG132 SKU 20? (3080 Super or 3080Ti already planned?)

    Wadda ya guys think?

So looking at this, essentially, the 3080 is just a 2080Ti? That's disappointing. The 2080Ti struggles at 4k in several games without RT. With it, that list grows larger. It looks like Nvidia put most of their focus in the 3090.

    3090 - real upgrade
    3080 - 2080 Ti
    3070 - 2080

So stagnant. Hopefully the RT performance is much improved as rumored. If not, I'm skipping this gen. It's obvious with consoles not really taking a big jump next-gen, that Nvidia decided to slow down their upgrades.

And we still have pricing to worry about. Now is the best time for AMD to step up.

yea well, there's only so much they are willing to do for <1% of highest tier customers...Some of us are still saving for 2070...

We don't know yet what Nvidia have prepared for RT and ML. We could see less difference between the 3080 and 3090 for those parts of the chip.
Both are based on the same chip and Nvidia have already said during an investor call that they will push RT further. It make sense of having strong RT perf on the 3080 too.

A lot of people weren't very happy with nvidias first RTX cards and i have a feeling people are still not gonna be happy with RTX 2gen.

I'm not buying a 3080 with 10gb of vram and also high power draw @250-320w no thanks. Please AMD have something better than 3080 or we'll all get screwed.

AMD will step up. Than nVidia will pull the real 30... gen. This what is presented is just pure evil. And honestly, ppl who jump the hype and buy blindly do deserve exactly this

Agree. If performance of the 3080 is better than I'm expecting, I have a hard time accepting a high-end gpu with 10GB of ram. If I do decide to buy one, I'll wait for the 20GB version later. Again, if pricing isn't insane. I'm still holding out hope AMD can do something. Everyone claimed they were dead against intel and look at them now. Now everyone claims they're dead against Nvidia.

Thanks for the response. But your theory doesn't really make sense. According to that theory the RT performance for the 3080 should be better than the 3090's to get this high TDP. As reported here there is about a 1000 CUDA cores difference at the same clockspeeds and more than double the ram. Do the math. It doesn't add up for the TDP... unless they use different 7nm processes. Which I don't know if 7nm EUV between Samsung and TSMC are compatible but nVidia allegedly earlier tried to bait both companies against each other for getting the Ampere chip production, where TSMC backed off. That seems that the architecture does seem compatible with both nodes.

We will notice within a few weeks. But it is what I expect. Samsung 7nm EUV is known to be more power hungry than TSMCs 7nm EUV and we know for a fact that Samsung's yields were very bad. Which adds all up to this weird ass product stack.

The 3080 should be noticeably faster. Same Cuda Cores, but more clock and more bandwith. Not to mention, IPC should also be higher than Turing, so with that it will also get some more performance

I'm not well informed here so let me know if I'm missing something, but my first thought is they're holding back cards that don't quite meet the 3900 spec to later serve as 3080 Ti cards. Maybe they'll have 5K cores and 12GB of VRAM. That way if AMD actually does have something that can compete with the 3080, they can immediately counter like they did with the 780 Ti.

i.....(will wait again) becoz i'm happy with games that i am playing.....

With Only 1-2 games [AAA] per year, a bit "weird" to buy these....

Currently playing HORIZON ZERO DAWN (1.02) at max settings with GTX 1070Ti..... GREAT GAMEPLAY:)

    {without raytracing features}

3080 faster with current games but it will choke to death one 8K textures become a thing.

Especially with consoles getting 16 GB, even if a few of those are used for CPU code, there will still be games using 12+ GB of textures in memory.
12 or even 16 for high-end experience or BUST.

Nvidia can shove their new 8/10 GB cards where the sun don't shine.

Once 8k textures become a thing i'm sure we'll all be ready to upgrade again, none of us planning to buy a 3k series are expecting it to last 5 years, at 1440p i've never seen over 6gb usage anyways.
A 8gb 3070 is a little shady but nvidia have often gimped --70 series vram size.

No game with high end gfx will use less than 8GB (none vram).
They are effectively 8GB VRam max.
